PS3 (dlc Games) any of you guys big into those types of games?

Here are some that I'm hoping some of you play:

1. Crash Commando (AMAAAAZINGly fun Realtime version of Worms 'kinda' strategy action game thingamabopper) I was having a blaaaast with this yesterday and apparently there are a lot of folks playing it.

2. Tetris (for obvious reasons) I wasn't really happy with the PS2 Tetris, but maaaaan, this latest version of Tetris is amaaazing, and it's got a lot of neat/useable features that the Wii Tetris doesn't have.

3. Dead Nation (isometric version of Left for Dead and it's amazing, realtime lighting/shadows, LOTS of gore/action/bodies on screen at once!! Looks like it's got a lot of cool MP options/score tracking/etc.

4. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (obvious reasons) I played it for about 20 mins last night and it jams. Looks amazing, feels amazing, and hopefully the MP is as good or better than the setup for SSFIV... if so, it should rock!

those are the main ones, but there are plenty of other good ones

Top Gun is really fun and easy to get into... solid for jumpin in and having a lil 30 min Dogfight full of big arcade intensity. Locking onto another plane and landing a hit with a missle feels great and taking someone down with only your machine guns is fun too.


Does anyone have those 4? Or any others that you're having a blast with on the PS3? A couple normal PS3 titles I like playing online are Resistance 1 (amazing maps, framerates, solid network support, blazing DM), COD 5 World At War (mainly for the zombies which is an amazing game, the normal DM is full of people playing with Mouse&KB which sucks for those stuck with controller), and Super Street Fighter IV.

no one's playing any of these?

Well me, and my friends, are sure gonna get the DLC for Marvel vs Capcom 3, when it cames out(providing the game doesn't suck, I'm not too happy with the "confirmed" lineup so far, but there is a statement made by one of the developers, that they'll still working on 10 more char, and they want to have an additional 10 char as dlc, for a total of 50 char).

If I had Disgaea 3, I would probally get the dlc for that as well(from what I can tell, the dlc for that game doesn't cost money though, it costs insane amounts of in game money, so I don't know if this counts for the discussion).

I have bought a bunch of dlc on the wii though(dlc for mm9, 10, and Arkanoid+, not to mention I bought every chapter of FF 4: the after years).

That's too big of a game to be 'dlc' in my eyes. That's a disc purchase imo. It'll probably be a title I pick up a year or two after it's been out, for $20. I have part 2 for the PS2 and it's a little meh at best (amazingly fresh graphics/animations/cool characters/weird and crazy battle system that I'm sure I'll never figure out [that being the one major con], lol)... you remember the discussion we had (on the board) last Summer about it.

I'm talking about PSN games mainly, not 'all' games that can be dled. I should have specifed a little better.

The game its self is disc base, but It's gonna have some char that are dlc, and most likely there will be other dlc stuff as well).

By dlc, I didn't realize you meant actual full games, which in that case, I have a bunch of such on the wii.

Wow, if that's the case, then I probably won't purchase it. I'm not paying extra for more characters: that's a ripoff. They should come with the game... it's the same principle behind buying map packs. COD 5 got me because I wanted the extra 3 Zombie maps.

Most of the games I have on WiiVC are emulated titles... mainly the TG16 stuff.

Are you crazy, extra chhar(in a game that comes with 30-40 char out the gate to begin with) is like the best kind of dlc(as it can add massive amounts of gameplay).

Also just so you know, dlc= Downloadable content, which content is what is in a game, not the game its self, just saying.

I take it you must hate MMOs/computer games in general then, where they constantly add to the game, by having a different, but simular concept to dlc.

That argument is flawed, especially if you've been keeping track of the game's developement. First of all, you assume that every game comes with the content "fully" on disc, which Isn't always the case. Also are you telling me, you would rather wait an extra year or 2 for a game to have everything out of the gate, I sure wouldn't(especially when I may not even want half of the 10 char anyway).

Note: Also this Isn't Square we are talking about(look at the prices in the CC games, they're insane for do nothing or not much, content), the prices will most likely be more then fair(look at the other Capcom game for a hint at how the pricing will most likely be).

I'll get the same game FULLy patched... and possibly with all that (BSpriced DLC) content you paid for, for free most likely. Please, by all means... continue to be one of those poor saps who by supporting the dlc when it first comes out, makes it possible for me to get for free months/years later. but It's not a incomplete game, It's a complete game, that they "add" stuff to, there's a differance. It's not a beta release you noob, being a heavy PC gamer(which you claim to be), I would've thought you would beable to tell the differances between the two.

What are you thoughts on it? I can't figure out how to turn off the 'HD' look... before I start a match it asks me if I want to play it in HD or in the Classic mode, and after looking at both "modes"... they both look identical to me. Am I missing something? thks

HD and Classic mode are how the game plays. Classic plays like the Arcade, HD plays with new balancing and what not that's exclusive to HD Remix. To get the older style Sprites (That's all you can get, the backgrounds remain the same) you have to go into options. Personally I like the new graphics since the old sprites just look bad on the new backgrounds as they are upscaled and blurred to maintain the same size. I do however play with the original music on instead of the new music. The new music has no energy to it.

An hour... pfff.. you're nuts, dude. Elefunk for instance... can't be completed in an hour.. those kinds of puzzle games have ALL kinds of replay value... hell, most of these simple minded and cheap DL games are centered around being replayable.

Couple that with all the Stats and Score keeping = plenty of incentive to revisit those games. Hell, I've put at least 4 hours into Dead Nation and I'm stuck on a level atm... can't beat it. Once I'm done with that, hello MP!

Top Gun for instance - I can jump in and do a half hour of dogfighting and be fully satisfied.



That's the thing I don't get with this board... most of you guys are all about 'PLUG n PLAY' Gaming... as is the case with almost all oldschool Game Systems. Almost all of these DL games are plug n play... not literally, but as far as pacing goes, they're one in the same 9/10.



Like I said, I'll buy GT5 after you're done Beta testing it for me and also when the price comes way down. I don't hardly ever pay more than $30 for any games... I leave that up to people like you so that I can pay less for a more polished (fully patched) product in the future. And I'm not trying to get a rise out of you in the slightest, just telling you like it is. ;)

I found someone on Top Gun last night... and we had a 20 min standstill dogfight. It was cool but lame at the same time... it's IMPOSSIBLE to get a lock on someone when they're doing nothing but dodging 100% of the time.
