Sonic 3 is my favorite Sonic. If the poll was against Super Mario Bros. then it would have been closer but against Super Mario World it was an easy win for Sonic 3 IMO.
I love both games, But Super Mario world was huge and it amazed fans during its launch period. There were lots of improvements and new concepts introduced, while Sonic 3 didn't really have the same impact.

I vote Sonic 3. I've owned Mario World for my entire life and I never cared for it that much. Yoshi was too cute and I couldn't stand how it forces you to unlock the hidden levels. I always thought Mario Allstars was the much better SNES game. Sonic 3, with or without S&K, on the other hand is a game that I'll never get tired of. I have the whole game practically memorized and I always have a blast playing through it. It's endlessly replayable.
