Well...I must admit having a soft spot for Sonic 2. I don't understand how speed really factors into what makes a good platform game, however. Chaotix felt like a bit of a mess when I played it, but that was years ago. And I will always stand by the opinion that Sonic Spinball was an ugly, shitty sounding, sluggish mess of a game.Quote:

I voted Mario. More varied gameplay, more ground breaking + I have more nostalgia toward it. Sonic 3 was a bit meh to me. Prefer 1 or 2
Mario is so overrated. What's so special about slow fat plumber?
Yoshi's Island might have a chance, but not any other 2D Mario game, let alone against 3&K. (still think I might prefer YI, but it's close)
I grew up with Mario, but never got into any of them other than YI, prior to 3D at least, that and some of the Mario RPGs and other spinoffs. (my brother goes for all of it though, except Super Paper Mario, he hates that one... I don't care for it either, the pure Paper Mario RPGs were more fun)

Mario wins as far as games go, because there was never a Mario Adventure 1, or 2, a Mario Unleashed, or a Mario Black Knight.
And Mario Colors, aka, Mario Galaxy was one of the best 3D platformers ever made in my opinion.
