3DS Launch Thread

Some interesting info:

3DS Virtual Console to be a day-one download.
-I really hope this is true. The info is from IGN, which is usually reliable, but the fact that it's only been confirmed thru IGN has tempered my enthusiasm.

Cave Story 3D coming to the 3DS.
-I can't even begin to convey how awesome this would be. Just the other day I discussed with MrMatthews that I was disappointed buying Cave Story on the Wii. I thought the DSi was a much better fit, but didn't know it was going to be released there until too late. Being a 3D upgrade is just enough to justify a second purchase to myself.

Cool Cave story is sweet. One thing is for sure, despite how crappy the 3DS dirrection is(not to mention yuck the launch lineup sure wont make anyone feel warm, and fuzzy inside), Nintendo sure knows how to market stuff (they already have a ton of companies willing to throw their best at it).

PS. With a sad launch line up like that good, Nintendo has to have the VC able to be used basically right away, otherwise they would really have crappy initial sales.

Something tells me that whoever wrote that piece for IGN just doesn't know the difference between "launch day" and "launch window". I really hope I'm wrong.

Yea, there's a big differance, so yea hopefully it is Launch day.

True, but Nintendo pullud a Sega(you know, released more systems then they should have, and not supporting it), and most people were very surpriced, it didn't have a VC(I mean come on, It's a no brainer).

The DSi and 32X aren't really comparable. The 32X was considered a successor for a short time, while the DSi merely added download functionality. I think a more apt comparison would be the DSi and the Genesis model 3.

It's just the kind of guy I am, I guess, but in my opinion the DSi is the "definitive" Nintendo DS system. It doesn't have a GBA slot, sure; but that's not a Nintendo DS feature: it's a GBA feature.

So I'd have to say that I'm more than satisfied with my DSi. I've downloaded many games from DSiWare that I love (including Cave Story), and I would not have been able to do that with my DS Lite. Plus the screen is subtly bigger, so that's an automatic plus over the predecessor.

People like Zoltor may pout and carry on about how worthless an upgrade the DSi was, that the features I'm enjoying on my DSi should have been on the DS Lite (I guess that's what his point will be, at any rate), but ultimately that's rubbish. In my opinion, DSiWare justifies the purchase of the DSi, and DSiWare was not available for the DS Lite. Could it have been? I don't know... but it wasn't.

It all comes down to personal taste, and the change is either worth it for you or it's not. It would be insufferably arrogant of me to assume that my tastes apply to everyone.

After squinting at the GB Advance and original DS for so long I have only a passing sense of apathy when thinking of the 3DS. The tech sounds spiffy and the games look good, but I'm tired of staring at hand-helds.

The NGP screen is pretty big maybe you should consider that instead then.

So, I played a 3DS today. The 3D did not work for me. It just looked blurrier and made my eyes feel really, really weird almost like getting hair in them. 3D with glasses works for me, but it makes me motion sick after about 1 minute. I think it's safe to say I'm not ever buying a 3DS.

Dammit! Now I have to get one.

I think I'll wait a while longer. Maybe when it's just under $100 like my DS lite. ;)

So I traded in my "Ridge Racer" and "Pilotwings Resort" today for Zelda 3DS... Loving it so far..

Ridge Racer - It was a good racer, 3D effect was amazing, but no real replay value after you play all the tracks. If it had ONLINE I would have kept it for sure.

Pilotwings Resort - Same thing, after you do all the achievements, that's about it!

Zelda - I never beat the original game, and now I can chill on the couch with my girl and actually try and beat this thing. After I beat it, will I keep it? Probably not, I'll probably trade it in when Star Fox comes out!

Star Fox on the other hand... That's gonna be a keeper. Love the game already, plus Online multiplayer?? Awesome! There is my replay value!

Bought my 3DS on launch day along with Super Street Fighter IV. Since then, I've only bought Super Mario Land, Arcade Hoops and Donkey Kong off the eShop lol. Donkey Kong is the business!

I'm waiting for Shinobi and Super Mario.

I got Super Mario Land and Bomberman Blitz on the E-shop... I love me some bomberman... But I usually get my ass kicked!!! Donkey Kong that good for old game boy??
