Top ten Sega exclusives for a newbie?

Hi. Id like to apologize for surely making a thread, asking what many have before, but doing a search on this yeilds just too many results that does not really answer what i will be asking for.. And Top 10's on the internet do help, but id like some more personal info.

So here it goes.

Im absolutely new to Sega and their games. I bought a machine recently which is in the mail to me, including the first sonic game.

Ive been looking online for game lots and collections, but i have no idea what the games are for the most part. So it makes it harder to find a lot worth bidding or paying for.

So what i would like to know, is which 10 sega exlusives games, should a new sega genesis player go for, the must haves? Please qoute the obvious ones, as well as your personal favourites and what genre's you are normally into.

Hmm Sonic 2 is the most obvious must-have of the Genesis, and very cheap.

Gunstar Heroes is a must-have if you have any taste for Run-n-Guns

Streets of Rage 2: must-have if you like beat-em-ups

Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition if you like versus fighters (the single fastest version of SFII ever made!).

If you like RPG's, Phantasy Star IV is the must-have. (There'd also be a high chance that you'd need to replace the battery, or maybe not.)

Rocket Knight Adventures - Very fun platformer
Aladdin - Completely different game than the SNES version, another fun platformer

You are correct, i wouldve been wiser to call the thread Top 10 must haves, but this forum does not let me change the topic. Regardless, a great response and just the kind i was looking for.

Hmm my 10 favorite Genesis exclusive titles would be hard so here's just a bunch off the top of my head with brief descriptions. All of them have reviews on the site if you want to look them up and learn more.

Sonic 3 + Sonic and Knuckles: Using the Sonic & Knuckles lock on mode creates the biggest and best Sonic game in my opinion.

Gunstar Heroes: Defines the Sega Genesis better than any other game on the system. Fast and frantic action with great graphics. One of the best games of the entire run'n gun genre.

Shinobi III: All of the Shinobi games are great but this one takes the series in a direction of fast and furious action. One of the best ninja-themed sidescrollers out there.

Rocket Knight Adventures: It looks like just another rip-off mascot platformer at first glance but it's fun, colorful, challenging and very high quality. Konami put a lot of effort into this.

Lightening Force: Thunder Force IV renamed and mispelled. A horizontally scrolling shmup with great graphics, gameplay and music. Thunder Force III is also fantastic but not technically exclusive since it got a terrible SNES port called Thunder Spirits based on the arcade port.

MUSHA: Vertical shmup where you pilot a robot. This is my favorite shmup on the system. It's the Radiant Silvergun of the Genesis. It can be a bit pricey.

Streets of Rage 2: My favorite beat'em up probably ever. You go around as vigilantes beating the crap out of people. Great soundtrack. Not much else to say. The whole series is good though a lot of people don't like how they changed 3 when they translated it.

X-Men 2: The first game is good but this one is a stellar action platformer featuring the X-Men.

Ranger X: A sort of run'n gun mecha style game with some interesting concepts and controls. Some of the best graphics on the system.

Vectorman: Great graphics that tried to have a digitized look. You play a robot made of balls that blows things up. It's a fun platformer that looks great. A lot of people love it or hate it. I love the game and its sequel personally.

Ghostbusters: A fun, simple platformer. Along with New Ghostbusters 2 it's the only old Ghostbusters game that doesn't suck.

Mega Turrican: Great run'n gun game. Seems to be more heavily focused on action than most Turrican games which incidentally makes it my favorite of that franchise.

Contra Hard Corps: One of the fastest most brutal Contra games out there. SNES owners like to pretend Contra 3 is vastly superior but I disagree.

Castlevania Bloodlines: The Castlevania offering on the Genesis. Plays a lot like the original NES games instead of like Castlevania IV. It looks a lot better than those of course and you have the choice of a second character. A lot bloodier and gorier than most Castlevania games especially the ones released back then.

Sub Terrania: A crazy shmup where you have to contend with gravity and complex mission objectives. It's love or hate because of its intense difficulty but regardless it's pretty unique.

Target Earth: Brutally hard sort-of run'n gun style game where you control a Gundam-like robot. The missions are kind of varied and the story is nice. It's the original game in the Assault Suits series which includes "Cybernator" on the SNES if you're familiar with that.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts is fantastic but not really an exclusive. But it certainly stands for a good number of Japanese games were the Genny version is very different or even better than other variants / ports - mostly for having superior music. Among them:
