Smithsonian Video Game Exhibit

Their Saturn selection is very poor though, it consists of the following:

Panzer Dragoon 2 Zwei

Need Radiant Silvergun in the Target section for sure.

Maybe the Smithsonian only accepts US released games (I.E. no imports)?

But they have REZ listed under the Dreamcast section.

You know what, I voted and I was not impressed with the options either. For such an established authority on history and its keeping, they sure did a horrendous job at compiling the "eras". WTF is the Dreamcast doing together with the Saturn and Playstation, whereas the gamecube, PS2 and XBox find their spot next to the Wii, PS3 and 360? Where are the handhelds!?! Oh, I could go on and on.

All I know is, if Shenmue I and II don't make it, I'm going to be very upset.

Also, they had me select awful titles on other systems, only to give me sophie's choice between Sonic Adventure, Crazi Taxi and Jet Grind Radio (the same between Shining Force II, Phantasy Star IV and ...Flashback!!!)

Who the "F" dares call himself curator of this collection!! :mad: Yay, let's give a restaurateur of F'ing 19th century chandeliers this job. I'm sure she knows best. :mad:

Yea I know, you would think they would've put together a better selection of games, it was pretty meh for the most part, on top of that, there were tons of genres for each era with no representation.

This is so evil, how the **** can anyone choose between Mega Man 2, and SMB3(they're basically at the same lv of godly)?

PS. the selection options for these systems suck, really bad(really, Dreamcast with no MvCs or Soul Caliber, are you ******* kidding me). Whoever selected these game for people to vote for, is out of their mind.

lol, don't be silly, everyone knows the only games console before the ps1 was he NES. Just ask any 13 year old what they were playing 'back in the day' in 1992.. it'll be SMB3 and Mega Man.

Now I'm getting pissed, North & South(NES)? get that **** out of here, where the hell is Romance of the Three Kingdoms(that was a masterpiece nomatter what angle you looked at it)

Atleast the Genesis had a overall good lineup, but damn, every other system in every era got screwed.

So the exhibit is now open. I've only seen some pictures, one of which was of the Saturn exhibit.

The following are the games the Saturn is "showing off":

Tomb Raider
Panzer Dragoon II Zwei
Panzer Dragoon Saga
SimCity 2000

I'm rather annoyed that 2 PC games made it in under the Saturn. Seriously, what the hell?

How did Pac-Man get voted the action representative for Atari 2600? That port is largely considered a travesty, and a contributor to the video game crash of '82. Overall, though, I think there are plenty of excellent titles representing the different consoles. I don't think they should have allowed games that are ported to different consoles to be represented by one though. Whatever, I'm just glad video games are being given some love by the Smithsonian. I could sit here and nitpick about this and that all night, but you're never going to make everyone happy.

I'm surprised there's so much backlash over the choice of games. I thought for being a museum that's not known for anything like this, they did a good job at making a list of diverse games and systems. When I first saw this list months ago I would have never thought something like Panzer Dragoon Saga or NiGHTS into Dreams would get represented.

I saw some footage of the exhibit on Sunday Morning, and it looked really nice. I hope I get the opportunity to see it!

There was some good choices, but a lot of bad choices also. Aside from Panzer Dragoon and NiGHTS the Saturn choices were a complete joke. And on top of it all NiGHTS didn't even make it in! Tomb Raider beat it, which I think is utter bullshit.

Is there an actual video game museum anywhere? I think something like that would be a great attraction. Imagine the amount of electricity such a place would consume! lol
