Game Sack

Nice collection Joe and Dave, you guys make me wish I had room for everything. But I manage to squeeze 1,022 games into a small room with shelves (ok about 35 or so are VC or PSN stuff, I do count those as I paid for them), just don't have all the room for some nice big bookshelves, and my eagerness to collect continues to grow as I try and fulfill a want list I have made (not counting imports either, but have picked up quite a few of those along the way). This room is also my bedroom, so when I go to sleep I am surrounded by gaming goodness all around.

Overall great presentation, and great video to show, that like the rest of us, you are passionate about gaming.

Great video as usual. And those collections are fuckin super nice. I think I have maybe over 300 or so games and that's a big maybe. Someone mentioned PC gaming and man I bought MK2 for the PC and playing it on a modern day PC has been a pain in the ass. Trying to get it to boot up on DOSBOX has been a pain the ass too.

While consoles do have a lot of great games and a lot of the same games that PCs have, I still don't think you should completely ignore the PC market. I do get where your coming from with having Macs and not wanting to buy high end gaming PCs. Though if your Macs are ones with Intel CPUs in them you should be able to run boot camp and dual boot to Windows on it. Then you could play those PC games on your Mac. It doesn't have to be a top of the line PC just a decent one. If you were interested I could probably help you build one for under $750 that would be more than adequate.

Basically I'd recommend a PC for the following games:
Anything by Valve - Better support and community maps
Sonic Generations - 1080p@60fps = Amazing.
Phantasy Star Online 2 - A great Online game that is only on PC and PS Vita at the moment, though I'd recommend PC since there's an English Patch for it.
Phantasy Star Universe - Ran much better on the PC than it did on PS2 and 360. Also had substantially more content towards the end, sadly it's been shut down. Though there are fan made expansions for story mode in the works.
Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst - Best version of the game and still online with private servers.
Star Trek Online - A great free to play MMO.
Any Real Time Strategy Game - I can't even remember the last time there was a good one of these on consoles.
Minecraft - Substantially better than the 360 and smartphone ports. (Should run fine on your Macs).
Sims 3 - It's absolutely hilarious.
Steam - It's a great distribution service with many great games for great prices. For example, why bother tracking down an Xbox copy of KoToR 1 and 2 when you can get them both on Steam for $10?

There's a lot more that other people could recommend here that I've obviously missed, but hopefully that should give you a good idea of what you miss out on by ignoring it.

Joe, there's no much risk in finding a 2600 with dozens of games on ebay or craigslist for as little as $50. Oh, and Joe, SEGA made a few games on the 2600, so you will have to get them! I am surprised Dave doesn't have anything prior to NES/SMS, but the systems these guys do have are all top notch. I would be really upset if they had the 3DO.

Retro PC gaming seems like it would be right up your alley. You enjoyed the original Phantasy Star (dungeon crawler sections in that one), and you like games such as Rise Of The Dragon, and JB Harold Murder Club (Adventure/Interactive Fiction type games). There are tons of PC games like this from the MS-DOS era.

I think you would really love Heart Of China, another point and click game from the same company that made ROTD (Dynamix).

http://www.gog.com/ is where you can find stuff like this, and play it on modern computers, without having to reconfigure everything.

I just watched the video a second time. I liked the way that you filmed the games and the consoles but the way you transitioned from each area of your home to the next. You must have spent quite a alot of hours editing this video! The highlight of the video for me was seeing your surround sound system setup! I can only imagine what it must sound like when your crank up the volume and hear that beast roar!:rock:

Damn I wish I could figure out why youtube video stutters constantly on both of my Windows 7 machines in both Firefox and Chrome though. The panning collection shots got hard to watch because it would skip a bunch of frames here and there so I'd miss labels.

Yeah the smooth motion really brings out the flaws in Youtube and the power required to run it. It stutters for me in Firefox but not in Chrome. Well, the occasional frame is dropped in Chrome but Firefox is really bad. How old/new/powerful is your computer? Youtube wants a lot.

The video ran just fine through Chrome for me too. That sounds weird Sheath!

Ya'll should do a video on ram cart games. The PCE, Saturn and N64 have a shit ton of those games

And here I actually thought Dave was a nintendo purist.

I've been troubleshooting it on my HTPC, with an FX 8150 (Octal Core, 3.6+GHz) with 16GB of RAM, a Radeon HD 7850 2GB, and all SATA 7200RPM Hard Drives. That's what keeps throwing me on it all. I only have 6Mbps download speed and 700Kbps up that is the only limitation I can think of aside from a bad driver or something.

Chrome was significantly better than Firefox for sure, but still skipped nearly every second for a frame or two. I've been having problems with Hulu in Firefox so I had already switched over to Chrome to make that a little better. It still isn't solid though. Oddly enough my LG HD-DVD Blu-Ray combo drive started skipping even more noticeably around the same time and I can't make it stop either. It it plays the audio fine but skips the video just as frequently.

Downloaded HD videos play perfectly as does Netflix. Also, I run Malwarebytes and Spybot on a regular basis and update my codecs with K-Lite nearly as frequently.

Yeah, it's really weird. It also played much smoother on my iPod Touch 4th gen or 5th gen, can't remember... the gen before they got really long. There's just too much motion for whatever is causing the problem.
