I must've stepped on mine a thousand times as a kid. They were pretty busted up by the time I threw them away.. tape all over them, etc.

This is my favorite episode so far. I didn't realize that the Sega CD port of FF1 looked so much better than the SNES version. The Sega one looks smooth and colorful while the other one looks very blocky, dark, and gritty. I have to say that Game Sack is shaping up to be a better show than CGR, which is going downhill at lightspeed.
Thanks for the compliments, guys.
I can understand that. I'm probably stepping on a lot of toes with that comment. But to me SoR 2 had higher quality drums and a larger quantity of kick-ass tunes. Like I said, that doesn't mean the first game's soundtrack isn't very good... it's AWESOME (and more appropriate for the segments in Game Sack). One thing that bothers me about the SoR 1 music is the boss theme. I love it to death, the that voice that keeps happening during the track sounds awful. If only that were a higher quality sample or replaced with something else. Oh, Streets of Rage 1, why couldn't you have been 8 MEGA POWER?Quote:

Oddly enough, the SNES game was poorly optimized color wise, but the Sega CD game was designed for the target Composite output and looks rather banded over straight emulation.
Over Composite I'd say the Sega CD game looks better, but it always played better.

Better quality video is available here, for great scrutiny!
Oh man, the Sega CD game looks LEAGUES better than the SNES Final Fight. Everything about it is much more accurate compared to the arcade.
^I like how you guys have managed to treat multi-platform series objectively while keeping to your console-based characters. I wonder how you'd feature games like Earthworm Jim, Booger Man or Mickey Mania. The battle is on :D.
A Mickey Mouse episode is on the radar for some time in the future, for sure.
SoR2 has more kickass tunes like Joe mentioned which is the reason for me I like SoR2 soundtrack more than 1st game. 3rd one is indeed WTH when it comes to music for the most part...
From Final Fight I have only played MegaCD game and Mighty Final Fight on NES/FC, and I like both a lot.
Too bad next episode comes in 2 weeks :/
CGR is crap. I have already expressed my rage here:

Game Sack is totally different and light years better.
Stop watching CGR for your own good.
CGR still delivers to my expectations honestly . . . albeit I started watching well after a lot of modern games started showing up mixed in and don't really mind the mix of current and retro reviews at all (especially since almost all are reasonably informative and entertaining in his characteristic style).
Undertow OTOH is pretty bland and crap IMO, especially that one over-dramatic/over serious Nintendo fan reviewer. :p
I was worried that undertow's reviews would be offloading Mark's, but the recent Star Fox reviews (among a couple others) have disproved that thankfully. (albeit Mark's Star Fox review did get delayed for months after he said it would be out)
Game Sack is good in different areas and for different reasons.
CGR is still good to be honest. Undertow sucks ass, though.
My main complaint with CGR is that Mark will go through phases where he'll go 2+ weeks without reviewing a single retro game. He also doesn't review Genesis games like he used to, yet you see Undertow doing them all the time. The worst part of that is Undertow uses a Retron3 for Genesis games (and the reviewers suck). Does he send donated Genesis games to Undertow so he can keep reviewing the big deal 360/PS3 releases? His Genesis reviews were what got me watching the show back in 08.
I actually do like some of his reviews of new games (EDF! EDF! EDF! And the Tiger Woods and Madden reviews with Lord Karnage and the VEKTREKZ), and stuff like Classic Toy Room or the reviews of consoles, peripherals and random VG-related things are great.
It's the stuff without Mark that I don't like. Undertow, as I said, sucks, and CGR Retro News just wasn't that great of an idea for me.
And I think he still has a couple of Game Room eps that aren't uploaded (Sega GT, for example)
Joe, I love your vids. So much better than most of the other game related vids on YouTube.
I´m just surprised about your co-host. That you would actually socialize with someone who has such obviously wrong opinions concerning Nintendo's trash and Sega´s glorious line of products baffles me. ;)
