Thanks for posting Barone.

Nice idea for an episode, a part 2 is a must for all the content not covered. Adding to The Coop's info, Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box and the Neo Geo Online Collection didn't get a mention that I saw. The NGOC in particular has way better emulation (and display options) than that SNK Arcade Classics, which skips frames and has bad screen tearing to boot.

The stand alone Metal Slugs for PS2 also perform better than the MS compilation on the same machine.

Sonic Mega Collection & Sonic Gems Collection were good complication, still bitter about the Japanese version of those two games :/ like how Gems was able to get Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage 1-3 and also how Mega Collection was able to have Comix Zone & The Ooze!

Why did Sega of America though removing those games was a perfect idea?!

To get the rating as low as they could. Streets of Rage would of bumped it to either 7+ or 11+ (is that how your ratings work?)

Our ratings are all ages (E), 10+(E10), 13+(T), 17+(M). Streets of Rage is rated E10 on the 3DS eShop and other digital platforms. Comix Zone was rated E on the Virtual Console though.

Still doesn't make sense to not include it, considering the time period (2004-2005 ish) could've easily gotten a E for Everyone 10+ rating but as for deciding to remove 'em so it can be down to a normal E rating is beyond my guess :/ and while were at the subject, why is it that the collection was ONLY released for the Nintendo Gamecube "exclusively" for the United States territory and yet BOTH Europe & Japan got it on both PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Gamecube? Kinda messed up for those PlayStation 2 fans/owners in the US at the time that were huge Sonic fans (like myself back in the day) that only owned a PlayStation 2 and wanted to get the complication just like the lucky Gamecube owners and they're only chance was to Import it!

Yeah, the System 16 version of that game was made new for that compilation. It was something I remember hearing about because making this new Fantasy Zone game for a classic system was not something commonly done... isn't it a rom or something, actually a new game for the original hardware?

I don't know, Streets of Rage could well have gotten a T. Sega didn't want that to happen. There was no E10+ rating back then, and I think it's more likely it'd have gone up to T than down to E...

There are also the less commonly seen ratings EC - Early Childhood, for games for young children, usually educational ones; and AO (18+) - Adults Only, for porn games; no console maker allows AO games to be published for their systems. Nor does Valve's Steam store for PC.

No, Sonic Gems Collection came out after the E10 rating was established. The first E10-rated game was Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, which came out several months prior. Mega Collection predates the E10 rating, but Gems is the one with Streets of Rage. Comix Zone and The Ooze certainly wouldn't have garnered a T. As far as I can tell there was no real reason for dropping them.

Yeah, that's what I read too while I was doing some research on the second 3D Fantasy Zone for 3DS. I wonder if this came out before or after Mega Man 9, apparently both were released in 2008.

Dave really should be using OPL instead of HDL by now. Nice video this, I'm often on the lookout for collections like this and picked up a few tips.
