Manhunt 2 on consoles was rated M. They had to reduce it to an M rating to publish on consoles; I had forgotten about those very, very few games that got AO for violence, but yeah, there are those two and almost no others. It's a rating mostly for games with sex in them, because this is America and violence is fine but not sexuality.

On that note, that Hatred is allowed on Steam but not any AO or would-be-AO-if-they-had-a-rating porn games or adult Japanese visual novels (only the all-ages versions are allowed, not the adult versions), really shows how Steam sticks with that aforementioned American 'violence is okay, but not sex' thing.

Context. MK is a series where people fight eachother in a match; Hatred is a game where you are a serial killer murdering innocents because the guy you play as hates the world. That's probably the main reason.

Also MK, as a console game, must stick to the limits of what an M rating allows, so I'm sure they had some limits because of that, as you see with the different versions of Manhunt 2. Hatred, as a PC-only game not sold in stores, doesn't need to do that.

The AO version of Manhunt can be bought on Amazon's digital games page for the PC. And there are visual novels that have "Mature" and "Nudity" listed in their tags. I'm sure they're not tentacle demon rape porn or anything, but there are ones that aren't for kids on Steam. Whether it's "M" or AO" levels of nudity/mature subject matter, who knows.

Someone mentioned his comment from the Urusei Yatsura Sega CD section of the "Left in Japan 6" episode. My comment from back then explained things a little more clearly. To quote myself:

I think that the person was impressed with the overall quality of Gamesack's videos. Heck, that was the thing I was impressed about when I saw their first episode!

Even though Joe doesn't participate on the forums anymore (I know that you still read the SEGA-16 forums Joe :p) it's nice that Joe mentioned SEGA-16 & Ace's MEGA AMP when someone asked about console modifications.

Because apparently all MD games were designed with composhite in mind because dithering is the devil and he never had access to RGB bitd so no one else used it either (if I remember that guy's ranting correctly).

edit: Oh yeah, and s-video is more authentic than RGB for the MD even though every MD natively outputs RGB and you have to mod it for s-video, because at least we had access to s-video in murica. :rofl:

Yes it's true that most games, specially later ones, were designed with composite (or RF!) in mind and it shows. I wish the MD could be connected via composite through my projector and not show the horrible image it delivers (which is quite nice on a small CRT, quite surprinsingly, at least on certain models 2 & model 3, when comparing to RGB, and you get 'dithered' properly).
