Dave doesn't like the Ecco 2 music? I love that game`s music!
I hope to see some Howard Drossin stuff in part 2.
Awesome music choices. Hopefully a future episode will include Commodore stuff even though it's not an area they explore often.
I haven't watched this episode yet. Please tell me that they included Galactic Attack, aka Layer Section. That game's soundtrack is awesome!
^they did not, but there's some really excellent choices...it's a sega-heavy ep, even Dave gives them props!
wow, ive not spent much time with Ecoo CD but that stuff really did sound amazing
We really will need a mention of The Terminator for Mega CD, TFiv was of course hinted at, and we must not forget Mega Turrican. On the Ecco side of things, there are some amazing songs on Defender Of The Future too.
Great episode, I couldn't quite believe until watching it that this topic had yet to be covered until now. It's a rich seam; I predict many good future episodes of this type.
Dave said the same exact thing at a convention in recent years. It didn't start the shitstorm in the comments section that Joe predicted it would(at least that I'd seen yet. Someone commented on it, but it never got vile). He really means as first party developers/composers for the record.
I might be one on my own, but I really can't get into those screaming metal soundtracks for space shooters like the early CD consoles have, for something that takes place in space i'd much rather have a futuristic/electronic based sound I suppose. Doesn't help i'm not a big metal fan I guess.
That being said, I enjoyed this episode much more than I thought I would.
That's why I like Galactic Attack. It's soundtrack doesn't follow the traditional techno guitar riff stuff of most shooters during that era. I guess they were going more with the 8-bit/16-bit angle in this one.

Speaking of shooters with more traditional videogame music, Eschatos on 360 deserves a standing ovation in this regard. It's that good. The various arrange versions are pretty damn good too, but you can't beat the OG.
I agree. I never cared for any videogame music which tries to sound like regular music. It really took off with CD based games, and the stuff by T's music just isn't my cup of tea. Then by the Dreamcast PS2 generation I couldn't even stand to play games like Crazy Taxi due to the BGM.
The Game Sack video was pretty good.
This would have taken a lot of leg-work but it would've been super if GameSack would have mentioned which official OSTs or other game music discs contains the music they selected.
I dunno, a lot of my nostalgia for Crazy Taxi is honestly just YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH as soon as you start playing.
Burnout 3's music gets on my nerves. I've had to turn it off. I like synth stuff when it tries to be real more than real. I appreciate the effort I suppose, but I see how that can get on folks' nerves a bit.
