Game Sack

Yeah, that's an underrated reason as to why I'm not sure I could become a collector. Call me weird, I was never an ace student, but I always enjoyed reading the instruction manuals for video games, and I'm not sure I'd like the idea of getting something physical without one.

If there's one thing I've learned, it's to always know what your characters are capable of doing within the game, which rings true for every genre.

So far, I'd have to disagree as Sega seems to be getting back on track in recent years. At least, I haven't seen signs of disappointing their fans lately.

Unless you have a PC, then Sega is awesome. Creative Assembly especially.

Nice episode concept. It'd be good if they did one on Paprium and Tanglewood when they come out.

I'm getting quote hyped about those two. I'm enjoying Pier Solar but no where near finishing it; I'm not a huge RPG nut, but LOVE Streets Of Rage.

PS3/360 was easily their best gen since dreamcast, and we've got excellent Yakuzas & Sonic games on deck

I fail to see how F-Zero has a franchise killer of a game.

A franchise killer is Bubsy 3D or Driver 3, a game with such a negative reputation that it sinks an entire franchise. The F-Zero franchise has 2 reasonably good GBA games and an excellent Gamecube game? We'll probably see another one in the future.

Once again, PS2 coverage never fails to be boring as ever.

Yeah. And Climax is easily the best. It's all in Japanese, but the story mode was removed, and it has a full fledged track editor. There's more than enough English to navigate everything (except the car customization options, which you need a guide to translate).

Great video! I will say this. Taking quality of quantity and why wouldn't you when there's only so many hours in a day to play games, the Saturn wins for me and I'll set out why:

take each genre and take the best exclusive game of each platform or best few games and imo Saturn wins most often and in the cases where it doesn't win it's subsequent releases on newer platforms improved upon them a lot like the Gran Turismo Games or Soul Caliber being better than Soul Edge.

RPG: Panzer Dragoon Saga does not beat just any Playstation RPG it's the best RPG ever made for me
Strategy RPG: Shining force 3 (all 3 scenarios) and Dragon force (2) are better even than Final Fantasy tactics and definitely better than Vandal Hearts.
Also I will put Shining the Holy Ark as not only a honorable mention but as the best dungein crawl RPG ever made. The best dungeon design I've ever seen in a game. Even better than Phantasy Star.

Arcade Racing: Sega Rally and Daytona USA beat each Ridge Racer game with ease. I dare say Sega Rally is the best arcade racer ever made to this day. I play it all the time.

Simulation Racing: here Playstation wins easily because of Gran turismo (2). However I much rather play the subsequent Gran Turismo's on new platforms that improved a lot.

Lightgun games: Unfortunately not mention in this video at all the Saturn wins easily with Virtua Cop 2 and The House of the dead being a lot better imo than Time Crisis.

2D Fighters: Saturn wins this easily I think we can all agree.

3D Fighters: This one Playstation wins imo because of games like Soul Edge. However Soul Caliber was released later on Dreamcast and I much rather play that.

Shmups: Again Saturn wins this easily.

Simulation style games: Are there any better simulation style games than Iron Storm and P.T.O II on the Saturn? This is a serious question, because I don't know for good Playstation exclusives.

Survival Horror: This one Playstation wins easily but then again Resident evil 2 has the best version on the Dreamcast and the best old school Resident evil is Code Veronica imo. Then you have Silent hills, which is amazing but I prefer the Playstation 2 versions.

2D Platform: I LOVE Tombi! I think Playstation wins this one but close.

3D Platform: (Christmas) Nights into Dreams is amazing and it beats imo not only every Crash Bandicoot or Spyro it may even beat Rayman 2, although that version again is much better on the Dreamcast.

Honorable mentions: in general is the amazing Castlevania Symphony of the Night, which the Playstation version is the best, but the Saturn version other than graphics actually has more content and the same gameplay. so I take this as a small advantage for Playstation in this regard.

Also the Tony Hawk games are amazing and beat anything on Saturn however the Dreamcast versions again are much better to play.

In this video I also saw Suikoden. Well it was also released on Saturn and that version was better. Same with Grandia btw.

I could go on and on but I try to explain why, to this day, Saturn is the system I prefer because good luck finding a game that ever improved upon the Panzer Dragoon Saga formula or that has better gameplay than Nights into Dreams.

The specs thing was also a bit misleading, especially regarding the RAM. By properly reading the PS1 and Saturn's specs one can understand why the Saturn will be outperformed in 3D almost every single time.

They did a fine job imo. I enjoyed the episode, as usual. The coverage was well done considering the time frame that they had. The PS1 has a massive library, and there would simply be no way to cover everything in just one episode. Not to mention that these guys have to play, and capture everything that they do, in addition to editing, script writing, etc. which is a hell of a lot of work. yeah, i figured that's why Joe focused on the genres its stronger in - SRPGs, SHUMPs, fighters etc. i adore the saturn but not many libraries are touching the PSX's in my mind.

Agreed. Sega really dropped the ball in the USA when it came to porting over titles.
