😒
I kind of felt the same, a few years back. The State Something Random group.

I definitely would recommend you watching new Saturn episode it is great. What baffles me is Sega created VF, VC and VR in 1992 or 1993 yet not realizing many more future games would be made like this when they made Saturn in 1994 to put on system. Perhaps I am wrong on that, but they helped pioneer 3d fighters, racers and shooters yet didn't think that was future like when they made arcade games like golden axe they knew it would end up on genesis as boards were similar yes so where was the logic in 32 bit era? Were the arcade polygons quads too like VF in 1992 or 1993? Also is VF2 or Shenmue demo the peak of Saturn graphics so far?
LOL, I have to laugh at myself as I saw an error in my last post "We even had a laugh about it once" I meant to say.
It is perfectly logical that sega thought that way. 3d was way too expensive back then to have an arcade like experience at home. Sega did not foresee that people were willing to accept strongly inferior 3d as long as it was 3d, like playstation did.
^could we not
Joe: how are you guys for topics? i know the stuck in japan & series like that could prolly go for a minute, i'd always thought i'd be cool to do a comic book game ep of some kind, though you guys have covered a few over the years too.
Alright, just watched it.
I liked the hardware intro.
I don't think ridge racer looks better then Daytona USA. Why, just because of less draw in and better frames? Not the way I see it.
Nice that gradius Gaiden is here, but I think he choose the wrong song to highlight it's music. However this was redeemed with a true kick butt tune from gaiden used for game sack ending credits. I'm also reminded I need to revisit einhander.
Too bad there was no time to grab SotHA footage from at least first town to showcase game better instead of just pretty bland looking opening dungeon footage.
The ending skit was really good.
Watching the vol.2 Blu ray collection, I was a bit surprised to learn how off the cuff most of the ending skits are. I almost always find them to be really enjoyable.
The Making of Game Sack featurette was really interesting... I knew the show was obviously a lot of work (it shows), but to kind of have it itemized for you... man.
Hope Joe and co. can keep cranking out the collections. Love 'em.
We are always open to topic ideas. Many topic ideas have come from fans. Granted that doesn't mean we'll make every idea a fan has. There's this one guy who keeps suggesting the idea of "Games That are so Bad They Will Kill You if You Play Them". WTF? And then others wanting us to do an entire episode about cartridge flap hinges or something. So as long as the idea is feasible and wouldn't over-saturate the episode with tons of games we've talked about (especially recently) then it gets put on a list we keep and considered. Examples of games that fit your idea are welcome as well. Or we could always go the Larry Bundy route with topics like "5 games where the programmers didn't fix all their bugs"
Oh, and to see if we've already mentioned a game, check here: http://www.gamesack.net (You'll have to use Control-F to search for a specific game).
Any game that falls only in a "montage" needs a full review for sure.
Joe, if you could do as good a Larry impression as you do CGR Mark or The Irate Gamer, I would love to see it. 👍🏽
That was one of my favorite episodes you've done recently. 😏
Controllers are interesting, I'd quite like an episode based on how some games work better with a bespoke or slighgtly more obscure controller. Mind you, chances are CGR already did that.
Like The Simpsons.
I enjoyed this episode, and I'm sure it helped that I was more or less familiar with all the games mentioned.
Xexyz is one of my long-time sleeper favorites for the NES ever since I played and beat it, shortly after it came out. It has some of my very favorite tunes on the system.
I fought my way through Tuff E Nuff a while back. The final boss is indeed a pushover if you use the right patterns. It might have been worth a mention that the US release saw major cuts when it was localized from Dead Dance, the Japanese original:

Overall the moral of the story seems to be: don't use high-value Scrabble tiles in the name of your NES game. (Or, at least, not X.)
Super Magnetic Neo always made sense to me. What I always found funny was the JP titles of that era that doubled-up words a la:
"Super Magnetic Neo Neo" or "Dance Dance Revolution Mix Mix".
I'm surprised Lightening Force wasn't mentioned.
Lol. I thought about that too. But they have made fun of the title b4. That's prob why.
