Damn.
Sengoku Blaede is worth the price of admission. It can be had for as little as $45.00 to $70.00 USD.
If you are not a collector of SEGA CD games, don't bother buying Keio Flying Sqaudron. It isn't groundbreaking and is not with the price it is commanding at the moment.
When I saw you're ep of the pc-engine having lots of shmups I wonder...
Are most of them good, average, bad?
Dude are you kidding me? Some of the best old school shooters exist only on the PC-Engine.
I have pretty much all the good-best ones. I just need Coryoon. But if you insist, here are my thoughts:-
Air Zonk-9/10
Super Air Zonk-8/10
L-Dis-7/10 (Very underrated, and cheap)
Gate of Thunder-10/10
Lords of Thunder-10/10
Side Arms-8/10
Side Arms Special-9/10 (love the remixed music and the new challenging bosses)
Forgotten Worlds-7/10 (Not bad, But the default controller is horrible for this game)
Rayxanber II-8.5/10 (Hard game, but very addicting)
Rayxanber III-7/10 (Huge step down in terms of Gameplay, but the graphics and musics are great)
Sapphire-10/10 (The best vertical shooter of the 16-bit generation IMO)
Spriggan-9/10 (Much better than MUSHA--better music, levels, and powerups)
Spriggan II-8/10 (Bad ass shooter with very intense music)
Gunhead/Blazing lazers-8/10
God Panic-7/10 (I have a soft spot for this one)
Star Parodier-9/10 (Music really stands out here)
Sylphia-8.5/10 (Graphics are simple, but the game is very fun. developed by Complie)
Super Raiden-10/10 (Best version of Raiden, very balanced, and features two original levels w/new bosses and music tracks)
I can't remember the rest.
Dave must be pretty jelly and bitter about us getting a localised version of Firemen to say we don't matter. Not to mention other great games like Hyper Demension and the Super Butouden series.
Asking if shooters on the "King of Shooters" are bad or average doesn't make much sense Thunderblaze.
Hmmm, I wouldn't have known Keio 2 was mostly a platformer. I almost picked up a copy recently. I guess I should have.
Wasn't the Firemen the same as Ignition Factor?
IMO PC Engine is no "King of Shooters"
honestly, most PC Engine shooters are average to below average
now if you're talking PC Engine CD then you'll find some killer stuff alright
over 90% of curryman's list is comprised of CD games
Except for the fact that they're about firefighters, nope.
The Ignition Factor is more of a slower The Firemen, and it's slightly more "realistic" than that one. It was also the only one of the two to get a Virtual Console release (for a long time it was the newest US Wii Virtual Console release -August 25th, 2011- before they put Strider, KOF '97 and Samurai Shodown 4 recently this year)
Yeah, the CD dosen't add any graphic capabilities.
Also there are many great Hucard games out there, such as Air Zonk, Coryoon, Soldier Blade, Super Star Soldier, Violent Soldier, Gradius, Salamander, Parodius, etc.
So, wait... are you all featured on retroware.tv? Cause you're spotlighted there:

If so, congrats! :)
Yeah they spotlight us from time to time. They're really cool over there, I just wish they're site wasn't so slow to navigate.
