Have to agree with Dave; Donkey Kong Country 2 is the best one out of all the three DKC games. I'm not too fond of DKC3, and that new Kong replacing DK and Diddy sucks. Also the GBA ports of all three added new stuff (generally minigames, such as Candy's Dance Studio and Funky's Fishing on DKC1 and Expresso Racing, Funky's Flights and some other one on DKC2) and, in the case of DKC3, changed a lot (new -admittely better- music, some of the areas changed, new minigames -one of them basically being a mini version of Rare's Cobra Triangle but with the DK characters)
Also, DKC Returns looks really nice. I should buy it sometime.

Great episode. Some negativity is nice for a change. Although, a couple of those I didn't think were that bad.
-
My favorite game in the episode is probably Super Hydlide.
-
What are you guys saying about Atomic Robo Kid during the credits???? I was so pleased to get that game off ebay back in 2008, so I'll be outraged if I ever get around to playing it and find out that it sucks.
-
21 minutes later and I can see why alot of those games were selected. If it was not poor controls, it was the poor graphics or uninteresting concept or design.
-
Toki and Jewel Master shouldn't have been mentioned. There were tons of better picks shown at the end.
Although, this way it's at least a little controversial instead of picking all the obviously horrendous ones.

I like Heavy Nova and Earnest Evan

I definitely would consider Jewel Master something of a hidden gem, even if it's a bit rough around the edges. I never realized that Toki got such a bad rep. It seems like a solid game, although definitely not a great one. Dave's probably in for a shock when you guys dive into the "Worst of the West".
- Anyway, when's the DVD coming out ?

I like Jewel Master and Super Hydlide. Granted, they're not the easiest games to get into, and they might be something of an acquired taste, but I find them enjoyable. JM has mad parallax and SH has an incredible soundtrack and lots of exploration.
Toki is cool, but I agree with Dave about him moving way too slow. Combined with one-hit deaths, it makes for an unnecessarily frustrating game.

Never knew the snake character in Cosmic Crapage had a bra lol.

Some of these games I like but also find disappointingly limited in execution. Others I don't like at all. I think the montage (or whatever) at the end had a lot worse games than the main section did, I'm sure that was by design. Cosmic Carnage is far and away a better fighting game than Street Smart or some of the other Genesis fighters that were shown. I agree that none of the characters are all that cool, I think it suffers in this respect in the same way that Cyborg Justice and really all games based on segmented sprites suffer.
I liked DJ Boy, it actually plays a lot like River City Ransom, it's too bad they couldn't have kept the heavy handed racial stereotypes of the original in the US release. Last Battle is better as Fist of the North Star, and not just because I like watching bodies explode more than fly off the screen, it just makes more sense. I played most of the way through Last Battle, and think all it really needed was a save feature. If Kung Fu on NES is amusing, Last Battle is more so.
That's not to say that I think any of these games are great, I really only played them because I wanted something from the Arcades and thought it would be similar. I totally agree that the Genesis could do without Growl and Captain America, though the later is at similarly playable to the Arcade original.

I actually like the Captain America game. Certainly much better than Mindscape's horrible SNES port.
Also, FUN FACT! Fighting Masters and Cosmic Carnage were done by the same people.

And if you know Classic Game Room it's massively ironic since the people responsible for one of Mark's favorite games (that one being Cosmic Carnage) were also responsible for one of his most hated games.

Hey! I like Starblade and Jewel Master
