City Escape was win.
As for the rolling part, like everyone else is saying, it'll probably be fixed later on.
Anyway, lookin' forward to this game. Nice job, SEGA :)
I've been really psyched about this game, but the news about the rolling kind of put a damper on that. I'll say this, though: there's a much better chance of Sonic Team fixing the rolling or any other physics issues in this game than there was/is of Dimps fixing the problems with their engine. At least this new Sonic Team seems to truly give a shit and wants to give us a genuine classic Sonic experience.
I'm surprised by how awesome classic City Escape looks, though. I didn't have a clue what to expect, but it's bad fucking ass. Modern Sonic gameplay also looks exactly like I expected (still awesome).
Aw man, SEGA screwed up something about the physics AGAIN? I'm still looking forward to Sonic Generations, and it probably won't be as bad as four (Where the physics were SO bad they were visibly noticeable, blech) I'll still pick it up.
Classic Sonic's City Escape Playthrough. But this time you can actually hear the BGM better. The audio was recorded from Sonic Boom 2011. (Not my video BTW)
Looks fucking awesome.
Can't wait to play this. I believe it's the only Sonic game I'm giving a shit about.
Yay, my Sonic mag just arrived today!

If somebody was worried is that mag what you order from the online the correct one with the loot, then I can quarantee that it is the one. I was also slightly worried that maybe its not with the loot as there was nothing said about it.
Proud to be a Sonic fan :3. Big thanks to Lanzer who let us know of this mag and Okman, who helped me to order it.

omfg it comes with Yoshi and Tails???!
ol no, those are bought seperately xP
What about the rainbow sponge square assortment?
Sonic Generastions demo is out on PSN Europe! YES!
Pssst!
(It sucks.)
Retro has a full list of levels what are included in SG.
I was impressed; it's at least decent now; a massive step up from Sonic 4. Curling into a ball doesn't make you lose too much speed, but it's still not what the classic games were like.

BREAKING NEWS
LAST BATTLE ADAPTATION CONFIRMED FOR SONIC GENERATIONS
There's gonna be a Sega Genesis based level?
SOLD!
I'm unable to play the demo, but I've been hearing mixed things. A few main problems I've been hearing:
-The camera is too far zoomed in.
-The motion blur is unbearable.
-Rolling is fucked up.
What do you guys think of the demo for the most part?
There was a time when Sonic games had everything. Now were basing a good Sonic game on 'being better than the last one'. Oh! How the mighty hedgehog has fallen.
That, pretty much.
Though I'd say it's not so much the camera that's zoomed in too much, but it's the fast sequences that are too ridiculously over-the-top fast. Much like most of the recent Sonic games, actually. The walking-speed parts in SG are pretty well-paced, but hit a spring and you're instantly at Mach 1, making the action difficult to follow.
At least it's significantly better than Sonic 4. But yeah, that's not really a good measure of quality.
Downloaded the Demo last night. Aside from the few flaws already mentioned, MUCH better than Sonic 4. Though I have to disagree with the camera. It works fairly well. If those few issues are fixed, including the rolling issue we all know about, the game should turn out pretty good.
I also like when you start up the demo the first thing you see is a message that says Not Based On Final Product. Or something very close to that. I can't remember. :p
I don't remember the rolling being fucked up, I think that if you were rolling already and pressed right on the d-pad (or any direction I guess) you started running again instead of continuing to roll, which was weird. I could be mistaken on that but I really liked the demo minus the motion blur, it made it hard for me to get into the level. I felt almost like I was holding on for dear life rather than actually in control of what I was doing, and I felt like I could only get what was going on if I went reeeaaalll slow. I only gave it a couple of run throughs though, maybe you gotta get used to the blur and then it becomes ok.
The blur isn't too bad. Especially once you know the level. I also liked the remixed/arranged/whatever version of Green Hill Zone for Classic Sonic's stage.
I enjoy the part where the music restarts from the beginning. Great attention to detail (lolol).
I cannot think of any other Sonic game doing that besides Sonic CD (due to an obvious reason).
Just played it myself. Didn't noticed anything regarding rolling but then again, I'm not an insane fanboy so I wouldn't be able to make that call. I have a 40" LED, so I can't complain about the size of the character and the zooming but the fast motion do require some getting use to.
Considering that this DEMO expires in 17 days, I think it's safe to say that this is in pre-beta and that they're waiting for the players' input on this in order to fix things. So far, this is the closing thing we got to a REAL Sonic game since the 16-bit days.
By George, I think they got it!
Rolling is messed up indeed, but not as bad as in Sonic4. He is always uncurling and getting him roll again is not always so easy...
As for anybody who doesn't notice anything wrong with the rolling -- you've got one of those horizontal spirals near the end of the level. Try going through it with a roll, you'll slow down immensely and fall off about halfway through. Only way to get through it is by running.
I'm a big SEGA fan, but not the biggest Sonic fan... I do enjoy a good game of Sonic though.... And this is such a beautiful DEMO. I'm very impressed with the backgrounds and the overall look. I do hate the roll being it's own button instead of pressing down and button. But you get use to it, and actually something that the original Sonic games really needed. I'm impressed!! Miles beyond Sonic 4! This looks alot more like the video that fan made.
I saw that! It's got my curiosity WAY UP!
Edit: According to this http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/new...es-leaked.html
Looks like it might just be Sega Genesis Emulation of the original games... BLAH!!! I was hoping for the HD Sonic to get stuck in a "pixelated" Genesis level or something....
I was able to roll by pressing down on the analog stick. Overall I think this one has plenty of potential. I definitely like the level design better than Sonic 4. I wouldn't mind if they got the controls as close to classic Sonic as possible, but input lag is still going to make it slightly more sluggish no matter how hard they try. Between this Green Hill Zone remake and City Escape I'm already sold provided we're not talking about a $60 title.
Can you roll into a ball in mid-air using the button? Such as after hitting a spring or running off a cliff.
He still seemed tiny to me, and my display is bigger. Just play a Genesis Sonic game and compare.
I assume it has to do with making it wide screen, but I am not certain what makes everything so hard to see. Too much stage clutter? Confusing background? (old GHZ just had mountains and an ocean) Maybe the stage clutter is too big compared to Sonic? (thinking of that big spiral)
Sonic 4 despite being AIDs in video game form... at least I was able to see what I was doing, though it may have been a bit too zoomed in.
GameStop is taking Pre-Orders. Also includes the Bonus DLC Casino Night Zone. The price is $49.99.

I was sold the day they announced it. I'm just going to wait until the price drops to $19.99 or less. Maybe I'll have an HD system by then. ;)
No HydroCity? No likey...
I enjoyed the demo quite alot, it's a huge step above the mediocre sonic 4 in pretty much all aspects and finally being able to play as classic sonic again after over 10 years since his modern redesign was awesome. the only complaint I have is that the demo is only available for a limited time. I think the game will probably turn out pretty good, its impossible to please all sonic fans with the devided up fanbase so of course some people are going to complain and hate it.
Polygon Jim hacked the demo.

"Hey! You put Classic Sonic in my Modern Levels! No! You put Modern Sonic in my Classic Levels!"
And Sega said Classic Sonic wouldn't look/work right in 3D.......pssshhh. I really like the video with Classic Sonic in Modern's Levels. Makes me imagine what could have been. I really do hope that Sega includes that now as some sort of Unlockable. Especially since it's now been done by Polygon Jim. :ok:
