I will definitely be buying this. It looks great and the demo was pretty good. It's nice to see a Sonic game not being a Wii exclusive. This could be the first GOOD Sonic game in a long, long time.
*Fingers crossed*

It looks like it's rather like Sonic Unleashed and Colors . . . which would explain the "too fast" feeling (both of those feel wrong for 3D Sonic IMO). I had a glimmer of hope that this would be closer to Sonic Adventure 2's gameplay (especially with the remixed SA2 levels in it), but it seems not. :(
Yeah, it's only on for like 4 secs though, well spoted. I wonder if you can use music from the Sound Test in the levels; I mean there is an option for it just before you select a stage on the hub. Imagine playing Green Hill with Emerald Hill's BGM. :D
New demo is released on the 19th; which was 40mins ago for me. Things have changed quite a bit; Green Hill's the same lenght-wise, but it's more challenging with lots more badniks and a few new traps. Modern Sonic's Green Hill is playable too, and it was great fun. Spin dash now has smoke. Complaints? Stiff controls and Omochao haunting you with "advice" at every turn; please say you can disable him...
You disable him in the options.
This game is poop.
I was just about to ask whether Sega have ruined this game yet, so am interested to hear what the demo players think!
Rolling is significantly improved from the last demo, but there's still issues with him trying to unroll and run instead but that's not so bad compared to what it used to be. Controls are now Sonic Adventure like rather than Unleashed, homing is done with double jump rather than other button, that confused me for a while
Hold Crap !!!
The demo is awesome, bloody awesome the Modern day Sonic level is utterly incredible. So fast its hurts ...
The problem im having here is the old sonic is fucking useless. They make half the modern stage play in side view anyways. Seems like no reason to play the classic stage. Modern gameplay is great though.
Judging by the level layout and certain stuff dug up from the previous demo, the hunch is C.Sonic has an optional Homing Attack as well, possibly unlockable.
This sounds odd but I feel like im going to be forced to play classic sonic stages I dont want to. They simply dont feel right. The backgrounds got to much shit going on for classic sonic view and its very disorienting for me where as modern is perfect.
At least it's coming to PC.
This demo isn't out on the PS3 is it?
Not in the US though, right?
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is.
Well, I can't find it yet.
I heard the 25th for PS3.
Strange, some Americans over at Retro already have it. The only thing I can gather is they're running the "European" demo via hacked consoles, if so, my bad; I really did think it was released.
I believe if you setup a UK account on your console, then you may download the demo.
Its little things like this that make me question. Why in the world would anyone honestly choose to own a ps3 over a 360? I'd say you'dn have to own it with a 360. The exclusives are great but it does almost everything else worse, controller, interface, online service, doesnt have demos for everything, get tons of stuff later like demos and dlc and it use to get game releases up to a year later.
The 360 interface and controller issues are pretty much crap TBH.
And they red ringed for so long...
Required patience, and slightly worse hardware are the only real downsides of PS3.
And 360 has the better exclusives too. Halo, Gears of War...you don't top those with a crappy remake of Twisted Metal (the only PS3 exclusive I can think of that I'd want).
There are a few games that I miss but hey I can play online for free, play just about every sinlge ps2 game (60GB model) plus blu-ray. It has built in wireless (360 got it later) I can swap out the HD instead of buying whatever M$ sales. Plus I can plug in my USB Saturn controller. I think MS dropped a turd compared to what they did with the first Xbox.
That's a great point.
I can use Sega Genesis and Xbox S controllers on the PS3...
I can't on 360.
And the original Xbox was soooooo great compared to 360.
Edit:
Yeah, UK accounts let you download the demo.
Not US accounts.
I guess to each his own. I think the ps2 has one of the most awful libraries and with all the hd releases coming out of the handful of decent games makes that moot to me. Plus ps2 games look awful on a hdtv. Built in wireless? Well 60 gig models where $600 so its to be expected. The HD issue is dumb on both systems. They're consoles and I think people have a forgetten them. I havent come anywhere close to filling up any sort of hdd on any system. Only thing that took space up was all Capcom games on ps3 being absolutely stupid and requiring a 5GB install for what seems to be no reason.
I choose PS3 over 360 because of free online and it's a Blu-Ray player. The only reason I see to own a 360 is Gears of War. I also actually prefer the PS controller.
Edit - about the demo... it was released a few weeks back for a limited time (ps3). I don't think it's still available. A new/different demo is being released this coming Tuesday I believe, on the PS3.
I don't care about online service, demos, or DLC. Shocking, I know. I'm not too bothered about release dates either. I got a PS3 because it has more exclusives that tickle my fancy, multiplatform games are pretty much the same, no red ring issues, no territory lockout, and backwards compatibility.
Can a 360 play that awesome Sega game Gunvalkyrie?
They all have compatibility with PSX games.
The ones that have PS2 have near 100% compatibility. Yep.
Some of the PS3's with PS2 compatibility have PS2 hardware built in, the later non-slim PS3's that have PS2 compatibility but no PS2 hardware are not compatible with every game.
I played the demo when it was released. I was very impressed. This game will be a day one purchase for me as I've said many times before. Also, as Tiido said, the rolling and jumping mechanics for Classic Sonic have been greatly improved. It's not perfect, but it's a huge improvement over Sonic 4.
EDIT:
Pieces of music have been found in the new demo as well. Ending Melody anyone?
