Apparently the developer is going to allow us to turn the 2xsai filter off, that's a relief. I never tried the versus mode with eight players, or even four, but it looked like it wasn't very thought through in the level design department. I loved that the game had so much going on though, and that's probably why it wasn't four player. Four characters jumping around on three plains with dozens of enemies while casting huge magic spells would have been impossible to play. I think somebody already mention that the game already slowed down in really busy scenes. Not saying its the best game on the Saturn or anything like that, but I played the hell out of it, and it is a very good beat-em up.
The versus mode allows only 6 players simultaneously. It's fun to play it a few times but the characters aren't well balanced. The story mode is much better.
The game itself is good, with nice music, but not as fun as SOR 2, due to the lack of combos. Though, I played it hundred of times.
Here is a video of the new version: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/acti...os%3Btitle%3B1
And I might ask why are all of these games being ported on the 360 and not the PSN too? Now somebody correct me if im wrong but while the PS3 is last in sales i'm sure they are outselling the 360 on Japan by a good margin http://www.next-gen.biz/news/japan-l...sales-revealed they are so why on earth is Sega porting so much to 360 and not the PSN? They didnt do this wit Sega Ages during the last gaming war.
All I want to know is:
Does this mean I'll be able to afford the Saturn version now?
...rethorical
Xbox is successful enough in Japan to warrant exclusive attention with only room to grow in the market via good software. It's got a hardcore cult following there much like Saturn did in the west. Seems smart that Treasure would take the path of least resistance and get their games up and running on the dominant platform globally and wedge themselves into a starving market domestically just to boost their brand recognition and profits.
Still though, it has nothing to do with Sega; and Treasure could still port them over at a later date.
I don't want to sound funny or anything, but do you really think Treasure (or SEGA, or any Japanese videogame company for that matter) are that obsessed with navel-gazing that they wouldn't want to develop for anything that's 'not doing well' in Japan, yet is 'doing well' elsewhere on the planet?
That Gamespot interview shows the "HD" filter better, it looks like it also adds "sketch" marks to the sprites like pencil shading. That's kind of neat.
Somebody get at me when Capcom finally gives us AvP and a 4 player D&D. Now that is the best Saturn beat em up by far. Hell it's the best console beat em up IMO.
This isn't ported by Treasure nor Sega of Japan. Just look at the fonts or the GUI or the filters or the backgrounds. This looks more like a hack than a remake / port.
