Moonwalker, Castle of Illusion and Altered Beast. In that order. One of my friends got a Genesis with those games back in about 1990.
I finally got myself a Genesis when it came packed in with Sonic 1 and they gave a mail-in-coupon for a free copy of Sonic 2. For some reason, I got two copies of Sonic 2 in the mail. I traded it for Castle of Illusion. My next games were Evander Holyfield Boxing and NHL Hockey.

I tried to get my mom to buy a Genesis when you could get Sonic 1 AND 2, but no joy :(

I vaguely remember either playing or watching someone else play Sonic 1 at a Sears when I was very young. The first Genesis game I clearly remember playing was Sonic 2, at the ripe old age of 7.

Altered Beast for me. Came with the system heh. I remember my mom telling me she was gonna trash it if she heard "that stupid HAHAHAHA one more time!" Other than the pack in, Golden Axe or Super Thunderblade was the first game. I bought them at the same time.

Ecco the Dolphin. It came with my Genesis that I bought at a goodwill store for $5

Sonic 1 as pack-in, PLUS Sonic 2 in the mail! Must have been the best Genesis pack-in ever. Also since I had to wait for Sonic 2 via mail, it gave me time to master Sonic 1 first, and it probably helped me appreciate Sonic 2 that much better.

Damn, some of you guys are old. I'm 22, got into Genesis when I was 12 or 13 in 2001. Got it from a garage sale with Ms. Pac Man, Pac-Man 2, NHLPA Hockey 93, and NFL Quarterback Club '96. Whoever owned it must've been a Pac Man fan, geez.

Sonic 2, came with my first Mega Drive. Had to make do with this for quite awhile before getting my second game, but cannot remember what was second.

Sonic 2, I got it with my new system on Christmas '92 (possibly '93 but '92 seems right). I had a non-Hi Def model 1 but didn't know about the difference until I came across this site! Being a NES fan and knowing nothing about Sega, I remember being very surprised and thinking "what is this"? Sonic 2 was awesome though. My friend Steve visited and played this with me one night soon after. He had a bad headache that night and got sick. I remember laughing at him and calling him a wimp. Well, I was only 11 then. ;)

The first game I bought or obtained other than the Altered Beast pack-in, was Phantasy Star II. I began saving up for it before it was released and was able to pre-order it from an American company who mailed it to me the day it was released. I'm not sure if it ever became available to rent in my hometown. Ever since I got it, word somehow spread and all kinds of strangers approached me on the street, begging me to trade it to them. One guy offered Golden Axe, Revenge of Shinobi, Ghouls 'N Ghosts and Strider(?). Months later, I eventually had enough of the game and advertised it in the local paper for $210. I accepted an offer of Last Battle and $190 for it. This all went down while I was 12 - 13 years old. :p

Sonic & Knuckles.
I was 12-year old and after playing intensively this game, I did 1cc.
Nowadays it is too easy for me.

I honestly can't remember, but I know it was either Sonic 1 or 2. I think it was 2 since it probably came with my Genesis. Could have been Altered Beast also, not sure.
