Best EA sports games?

I'm looking for the best of each sport covered by EA.

I live in Brazil and EA titles were not so popular here when Genesis was still kicking a$$, so I need your help...
I really do not like most of EA games, but I was impressed when, 2 days ago, I played NBA Live 95.
Even with the usual choppy EA-like in game animation, the presentation quality is above average and the gameplay is still very good IMO.
Then I realized that I could be missing other EA sports games like that...

Please, let me know about your favorite EA sports titles.
Why do you think your choice is the best in the series?

I'm limited to EA only, huh?
Football: Madden 97
Basketball: NBA Live 95
Baseball: none, they all sucked.
Soccer: FIFA 95 (honestly, I've only played this release)
Hockey: Too difficult to decide, read this...

I've never cared for the Madden games, I've always preferred Tecmo Superbowl. EA hockey games are brilliant though. The best is NHL 96. Most people say it's 94, but 96 instituted a new and smoother engine and also brought back the blood and fighting. The game is simply amazing. I'll second FIFA 95 soccer and PGA III golf as well. PGA III is still one of the finest golf games ever made. I prefer it to almost every modern Tiger Woods release, with the exception of 05 and the latest release which features Augusta National. Other than that, check out the Mutant League games, those are lots of fun.

FIFA 96.

I just picked up Mutant League Football, havn't played it yet, but its loose so don't have instructions (hope I don't need them)

I also have Team USA basketball which I find plays far too slow, its funny because I had great memories of Bull Vs. Lakers and thought this would be very similar but maybe its just not aged well.

I have the CD version of FIFA and its ok but not a patch on Sensible Soccer or Striker. I need a PGA game as I had PGA 2 and European Tour as a kid and loved them.

Super Baseball 2020 is very fun and it was ported by EA so it does count :)

Jordan vs Bird. The only one of the lot I didn't want to turn into a toilet drake.

NHL '98 gets a perfect 10 from me. My favorite hockey title has taken up more of my time than just about any other video game. Most people prefer the high scoring antics of '94 or '95, but for my money, NHL '98 is faster, tougher, and just better. Plus, it has the best fighting of any 16-bit NHL game. You can't go wrong!

American Football: Bill Walsh College Football 95
European Football: Mr. Smith would know more about this than me, and he recommended Fifa 96, he is usually right about these things.
Hockey: NHL 96
Basketball: NBA Live 95, you already have the best one, but Lakers vs Celtics is nice too.
Baseball: MLBPA Baseball. This is actually my favorite baseball game on the system, I think its better than Sportstalk, and World Series. I don't know why it doesn't get mentioned more.
Golf: PGA Tour II, This one is just fine, kind of like the PC golf game of the old days. The rest of them seemed to get more complicated.
Boxing: Toughman Contest.
Racing: Mario Andretti Racing.

I've always been partial to the Mutant League games. Though it's mostly because I generally find most sports games boring as hell, but throw in some mutants, cyborgs and the undead, and make it into a bloodsport and all of the sudden I'm all over it. They play really well too, great games, both the Football and the Hockey.

Perfect 10. Seriously. NHL '98 is reason enough to own a Genesis. It's that good.

I always liked NBA Showdown which was the game that preceded NBA Live 95. Genesis got the superior version of Showdown. The SNES version really was just Bulls Vs Blazers with a season mode added to it lol.

Jordan Vs Bird was also pretty decent.
