Great game.
Oh man, please! This kind of thread should be at "Insert Coin".
Genesis Does supposed to be just about Genesis, OK?
I mean no disrespect, but things are just getting messy here...
Now this is where this thread belongs.
Sega Genesis,
In the future, please try and post your topic in a relevant forum.
I have it on the PS2, it rules. I love that you can use a single fighter and that you don't have to do the team fighting if you don't want to. I was expecting the same single player option for Marvel vs. Capcom 2 but was sorely let down by its exclusion of said option.
I've been playing it for years on the DC - probably one of the top 5 fighting games on the system.
OP, what are your top Fighter picks for the DC? I ask because I only ended up finding a small number to collect for the DC, and all of them I prefer using the standard DC controller. I picked up DOA2, Mortal Kombat Gold, Soul Caliber, and one or two others. I have all the Street Fighters *collection/alpha collection*, all of the quality SNK related compilations, etc for my PS2, and I have top arcade sticks for the PS2 which is why I didn't purchase any of those for the DC.
I found some nice exclusives on the Saturn though, that didn't get released on the PS1, PS2, Xbox, or the 360. Are there any big exclusive DC Fighters I'm missing perhaps? Those two Power Stone games don't interest me.
Not the OP but check out Guilty Gear X - it's a gorgeous 2d fighter with an end boss that is tough as nails!
Here's a quick video:
I hardly play one-on-one fighting games anymore, lack of local competition being a key factor in this. Once Naomi emulation gets proper netplay and an active community I'll bite.
For controllers for fighting games on the dreamcast I suggest the total control 3 converter with sega saturn controllers.
The best fighting games for the DC in my opinion:
Capcom vs. SNK 2
Fatal Fury MOTW
SF3 3rd Strike
Last Blade 2
King of Fighters 99
Guilty Gear X
I appreciate the suggestion. I've seen that one and it and it's sequels didn't make my Wantlist. Neat looking fighter though, just not worth making it's way into my collection.
Thank you for the suggestions. I have Capcom vs. SNK 2 for the PS2. I have both the Fatal Fury and King of Fighter games for the PS2. SF3, I also have for the PS2 in a compilation. Last Blade 2 and Guilty Gear didn't make my Wantlist.
Anything else and I'm all ears, if it's something I haven't already seen that is. I appreciate the responses, fellas.
I figured I had all the definitive fighters. It's nice to see I do.
I have Blazblue PAL for 360, wish I had some local competition. No way I'm condoning XBL for p2p play at any rate. Shame.
I know the later KOF's are better. I like the 3D backrounds in 99 and Robert AOF as a charge character. I also like the last boss. For the KOF's its more of a pick your favorite.
To add, when you pause the game it will go to a screen saver of the opponents start to chase eachother across the screen. A little history. KOF98 was the King of KOF at the time. The highest character count. Many favorites from previous installments. Also the ability to play as characters in classic mode with their old moves. The only weird thing about KOF98 was the fighters didn't look like they were standing on the ground which didn't get fixed for the Dreamcast port. Many didn't like KOF99 when it first came out with the reduced roster and many didn't like the striker system. When it was ported to the Dreamcast this was in mind so it got a special treatment with the extras listed above to make up for people not liking the game. What made matters worse is the 3D backrounds were just so so, making people to further not like the game or the port. For me, I like that it got unique changes for the Dreamcast version which no other SNK got.
Guilty Gear X and the KoF's are where its at. And of course Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
Man, I need to break out my arcade stick and play some fighters.
