I'm interested to know if the rumor about Nintendos new system *and its games being DL/Licensed only with no plans of any physical media released* is true or not.
Just watched the new COD trailer for the 360. Not bad, but it seems like more of the same.
Mass Effect 3 will support Kinect. Cool!
Waiting for the 3DS system update.

any news?
*edit* nevermind, have to wait until minana

Yeah, Nintendo's conference is tomorrow at 9:00 PST.
Microsoft's presentation was very Kinect-oriented, which I guess is a good thing since we just bought one. Now I'm gonna have to get more blank dual layers...
I'm really hoping for something from Rareware. I'd be nice if they'd start releasing real games again instead of all this Kinect crap.
All anyone ever seems to do is get Angry Online round about E3 time.
So, I fire up /v/, sit back, and laugh and laugh and laugh at people getting mad mad mad.
Screw E3, all I care about is Skyrim!

Must... have... Elder Scrolls. Need... to build... time machine...
The Vita's kinda cool, though.
I wish Nintendo would cut to the chase and tell us if the new Wii is going to support Physical Media or not.

Holy crap. The Wii U looks amazing.
Anyone else see them draw the Dreamcast logo on a character's face when they showed Tekken on the Wii U?

"01net also claims to know some of the technical specifications of the new console (translation from Develop): "CPU is custom IBM PowerPC with three cores, GPU should be an ATI from the R700 family, with a shader unit at version 4.1. RAM should be at least 512 MB."" :?
If that's true, then I am sorely disappointed. It sounds horribly underpowered and it hasn't even been released. I hope these specs are bogus. The controller looks very 'faddy', and the only pertinent information needed at this time besides specs is whether or not Nintendo plans to release physical Media for the system or not. Hopefully with news of this new system, the price on Wiis will drop dramatically and I can finally buy a b/u unit.
And by then the game will have already been patched and I'll have put around 200 hours into it. I can live with a few bugs to get my Morrowind fix. Oblivion was the first Bethesda game released on the Xbox 360, and it was more stable than every other game that followed using that engine. I think they'll do a decent job on this one, and the game looks too incredible to wait another year. I'll be there day 1.
At least this game's not being done by Obsidian. After the shit job they did with Fallout: New Vegas, they should never be allowed near Bethesda's properties again.
Fair enough. Go ahead and spend $60, and then spend $30 on each EXP if it suits you. I'll spend $30-40 and get it all at once and have the least troublesome experience. To each their own. I've got enough games to keep me busy and content with being 2 years behind the current curve which is why I always pay $20-30 for current gen games including PC titles.
The Console versions of this will cry, and most likely neither of them will support Locked V-Sync. Enjoy your Tears.

I work on a PC all day and do Sega-16 stuff on it. The last thing I want to do is play my games on it too. That means sacrificing all the goodies the PC version gets, but them's the breaks. I also don't want to wait a year or two for this game to go down in price before I play it, but some do. Chances are I'll do like I did with Oblivion and FO3 and get the GOTY editions when they come out and play them again. :)
FNV was a buggy mess. The game locked up repeatedly, which is inexcusible, considering that it uses a 4 year-old engine and the same assets as FO3. It felt more to me like a really big expansion pack than a full game.
It also really didn't do anything more for the Fallout mythos than 3 did, despite having former BIS members. I liked the story, but it just wasn't as engaging. Las Vegas < Washington DC. The DLC has been leagues behind 3's so far as well. It's taken much longer to come out, and the 2 out there aren't close to the size 3's were. Hopefully there will be more coming.
Saw the Nintendo Press conference I don't know about that controller for Wii U...going to interesting
This thing is seriously going to be called the "Wii U"? LAWL.
I'm hoping that 3rd parties really are on board this time. The typical Nintendo recycling doesn't impress me, and I hope we get real 3rd parties IP this time, and not watered down ports or casual bullshit.
There are a multitude of properly executed games on current gen consoles that have all the bells and whistles of your typical DX9 PC game including major Post Processing fx like locked V-Sync and MSAA. If you want to support a piece of software that A. will most likely be completely bug ridden for the first 9-12 months, and B. is missing the most basic of all "current gen" type PP fx i.e. Locked V-Sync, then go right ahead. Not to mention by the time you're done paying close to $200 or more for the original game + EXPs, it's a win/win for the Publisher i.e. Bethesda.
Bethesdas' track record on Consoles is weak to put it mildly. FO3 is a perfect example, including FV. The 360 gets MSAA but is screwed by having Variable V-Sync while the PS3 gets locked v-sync but no AA. Take your pick. Bethesda will find a way to fumble both Console releases, mark my words. But if that's worth $60 to you, then by all means enjoy your different strokes. In regard to Bethesda and their inability to publish proper work for these poor old computers, the same can be said for the Console versions of Rage and Doom IV.
Ok, Aliens: Colonial Marines is totally going to kick ass with the screen built into the controller if they utilize it purely for the radar.
Other than that? I don't really know :/
Mark over at CGR just called Wii U "...the El Camino of game systems because its a car and truck in one!"
I lol'd. :)
Wii U? More like Pii U. Color me unimpressed.
LOL! I agree that the Wii U name is absolutely retarded. The graphics capabilities bring it up to where Sony and MS have been for a while now. It does have 6 channel uncompressed linear PCM audio over HDMI, though, so the sound is at least better than the Xbox 360, but not as good as the PS3 which can do 8 uncompressed channels. The controller will become tiresome to play real games on and I must say that the controller seems like another gimmick.
Looking forward to:
Ninja Gaiden 3
Rage
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Mass Effect 3
Bioshock Infinite
Metro: Last Light
The Darkness 2
Shinobi 3DS
Battlefield 3
Batman Arkham City
That they kept the sub-brand name "Wii" to continue the line (ala Game Boy or DS) attests to the fact that they really don't plan to move forward as the "next generation" of consoles. It's not like the move from NES to SNES, and definitely not like the move from PS1-PS2-PS3 or XBox-XBox 360. IMO, it will be another "Wii" down the road. And since I don't buy systems at launch anymore, I already see myself waiting up to three or four years beyond 2012, just after Microsoft and Sony would have released their "next gen" consoles themselves and a library would have been established for all three. :?
I do like the controller, though. If only for the prospect of ultimately being able to play DS (and perhaps even 3DS) games on the big screen (Castlevania, anyone ;)). After all, Nintendo has never been known for the most ergonomic of controllers. 'Tell you what, though, if they do decide to give us a "DS Player" (ala Game Boy Player on the GC), then that will be reason enough for me to get the system. As for its backwards compatibility with the Wii, that sure will make my current Wii completely obsolete and as inconsequential as my GC would have been without the Game Boy Player itself. :?
And then there is the issue of the PlayStation Vita. Wouldn't that make it's "cloud gaming" feature and overall interphase with the PS3 a Wii U in itself? The price is right on this one, but still I want to know what exactly are they planning to do with their library. I can see myself making the Vita my main console (that's right, console) if it's able to connect (or stream) to your TV and the majority of the games worth playing come in hard copy format. Otherwise, I've a number of retro games to purchase still. Oh, and I'm so getting a PSP on black friday. ;)
Sony left me with one very big question. How in the hell am I going to come up with the money to buy all this crap???? For me, they won the show. Uncharted 3, PS Vita, and that monitor are very nice.....
Xbox left me less than impressed with its kinect show. Nintendo hasnt been relevant to me in years.
Speaking of that 3D monitor by Sony will it double as a TV too or just a fancy monitor?
That would make it virtually useless in my livingroom.
Nintendo opting out of the graphics race with the Wii was a turning point for the entire industry. Sony and Microsoft trying to outdo eachother with state-of-the-art machines is extremly costly, typically it takes years before they actually start profiting. Sony could just barely do it with the infamous PS3 launch. Seeing Nintendo's cost-effective approach profiting way more per console sold, they started rethinking their strategies.
Now Nintendo is launching new hardware which finally lets third parties develop multi-platform titles for MS, Sony and Nintendo simultaneously without any hassles. The timing is good, because the others are obviously going to hold on to their current gen machines much longer than usual to get more money back from their insane investments.
Most of the games presented just bored the hell out of me. All those military shooters, Uncharted 3, BioShock Infinite, etc. They spend so much time creating these cinematic experiences that will play out exactly the same every time. I realized years ago this just isn't for me, it's not the reason I play video games. I want to see a much harder push in player-driven narratives.
