Heh, I just ignore that. It's become my routine to repeatedly mash the 'A' button as I turn on my Dreamcast. Maybe if I wouldn't unplug it after I'm done playing it...eh, oh well.
Doesn't matter if you keep it plugged in or not, it will keep asking for the date. Sega screwed up in so many ways on the Dreamcast. I love the system, but it is my least favorite Sega system to be sure.
The battery charges whilst the machine is on. Turn the machine on with no game inserted, set the date, turn off the TV and leave it for an hour or so. Go outsid, read a book, or something =P
I think the Dreamcast was where Sega finally ticked all the right boxes - however, we all know where console discussions go so here is an emoticon instead: :t:Quote:

As for the battery, try to turn the Dreamcast on once every week or at least every two weeks. That's what it recommended in the TurboGrafx-16 CD manual. If it's good enough for the Turbo, it's good enough for the DC.
The Dreamcast doesn't have a battery, it works like the XBox (not a coincidence) in that it will keep the clock running for a while without AC power, but not indefinitely. It needs to stay plugged into AC power. You can replace the capacitor in the DC with a battery socket, but it's been years since I've seen a mod for that.
But mine is plugged into AC 24/7 and it still requests the date and time when I turn it on every couple of months.
My battery it is dead and can't hold a charge for even one minute after 12 hours of charging and this will happen to all Dreamcast batteries since rechargable batteries can only be recharged so many times.Quote:

I am wondering why DC batteries die so fast but the one in my TurboGrafx-16 CD-ROM still works great. And that thing is ooollldd!
Even beats out 32X???Quote:

Probably been posted but the DC has a rechargable battery inside. It just keeps the date & time constant & nothing else really. Turn it on & leave it for about 5 hours for a full charge but it will run out if you don't turn it back on for a few weeks. The Xbox is different. It doesn't have a battery, it just sucks a little juice while it's on stand by to keep it ticking over. Unplug it for an hour & it has to be set up again.
I hard time considering the 32X it's own "system".
I've had my Xbox unplugged for weeks and it didn't need to be reset that I know of.
i never ahd a problem with my Dreamcast batery, the thing still works great after 4 years.Yet to own a TG 16 CD that thing rules BTW for you joe a picture that shows 512 colors in screen simultaineuosly for tg 16.Where the hell did you come up with 512 colors in screen TG 16 many of the TG16 games look like upgrade 8bit?.
How did this turn into a debate about colors? The Turbo can put something like 481 colors on the screen without any tricks. Read my Lords of Thunder comparison feature. I had many more pictures that I wanted to include, but when the article went up they were left out.
Yeah i already can see the difference between both version, Barely?. I think only the console version the TG16 did not such a good job in the graphics many games lack compared to genesis and snes in colours tough i don’t blame it the games are nice but the colours in some games are slight upgrade to master system game gear games, BTW afterburner on TG 16 shows many colours did ya know that the afterburner signs can be changed into several colours, and that game looks and sounds actually better then it did on genesis and street fighter did a good job, I like it more then the genesis one. Come with the proof i just felt like posting about it again BTW as you sead about the vector man pictures im going to say about lords of thunder i cant count more then 30 colours in screen. With lords of thunder its true for both With vector man, you have to really be ignorant to not believe it goes over 60 colours in screen(Shadow highlight).Did ya know TG 16 could do 32 planes while genesis did 4,thats been stated but not true TG 16 could only do 6 planes of 16 colours makes 96 colours or something same limitations as genesis, the 485 or something where never being used and the processor could do it i think, genesis has 4 planes of 16 colours but could ad shadow highlight or palette swap in many fighting games, there is a Rare Demo of genesis showing over 1536 colours in screen genesis could even do over 2000 did you know shadow highlight Transparent layers of Raster, Shadow highlight etc,The snatcher and eternal champions story is bull the one of the few games that goes over 60 colours sonic 2 aquatic zone or something. But heck where did this came up idd???
