Your top Sega Genesis/Mega Drive games of 2011

I know that there's been threads about "whats your favorite sega game?" and "top 5 games" but you can't expect them to be the same every year. We end up discovering a new game that we didn't even know about and start trying out other ones for the hell of it which we ended up liking. Like I didn't know about battle mania 2 till this year as well as pier solar plus many other titles.

Hey Pro21xx, you mean Sparkster Rocket Knight Adventures 2? I'm honestly surprised you chose that instead of the first but opinions are opinions. Though I would like you too explain why you prefer that to the first.

btw my list isn't in order, these are just the games I found about this year and consider them awesome.

Sonic 2 is, was and will always be the pinnacle of Mega Drive gaming.

With some distant rumblings from Streets of Rage. Shadow of the Beast was one of the more engaging games I've played in some time.

Final Fight CD, Streets of Rage 2 (old favorites, never-ending replay value)

Jurassic Park, JP CD (played all the way through this adventure game for the 1st time a couple months ago), JP Rampage Edition (currently playing it)!

I am ashamed to admit that I haven't seriously played any MD/Genesis games this year. Pier Solar, Phantasy Star III, and maybe a handful of standbys like Toe Jam & Earl, Streets of Rage and Golden Axe have made appearances in my gaming time, but I never inhaled.

This one got to be one of the most underrated games in the MD's entire library.

The first Road Rash game was a game that I first played this year. Excellent game, but not as good as 3.

1. Sonic Series (I have played all of them so much, I will say Sonic 1 is the most impressive 4-Meg game ever and better then Sonic 2)
2. Streets of Rage Series (50% SOR 2 and 25/25% SOR 1/3 also Final Fight CD)
3. SSF2/SF2CE
4. Shinobi 3 and Revenge of Shinobi (Shinobi 3 has become a walk in the park for me, Revenge I am getting better at still haven't beat it though)
5. Castlevania Bloodlines (Finally gave it a shot and loved it, hard as hell for me though)

I've been giving Shining Force and the Sega CD some love this year

I've been on the road a lot this year so most of my gameplay has been on Nomad. I can only fit a few games in the bag and these are the ones that always go with me:

1. NFL 94 starring Joe Montana
2. Herzog Zwei
3. Cyberball
4. Jammit
5. Virtua Racing

These are all great solo games but are even better with another player!

I usually take one or two other games to play solo. Most recently, I've been taking Battletech, an awesome game that I'm close to finishing. You can play with two players (co-op) but expect to get into an argument every time (the same thing happens in LHX). I have taken up Eternal Champions again due to all of the discussion in the forums recently. Either of Sega's X-Men games is always a fun run, too, though I still prefer to play them with a friend.
