Games That Might Have Sold More SCD Units
Of course, this is a fantasy thread, but I'm curious as to what games you think would have moved more units if they were available for the Sega Cd back in the day. I mean, I ended up picking one up anyway, but even so, are there games that you really wish had a SCD version worth picking up?
Remember that this is a complete fantasy thread, so please, no drawn out negative disussion on how Game X would have been a retarded idea because Publisher Y hated Console Z, and Developer A couldn't rap their heads around Technology B, because Evil Company C didn't hand out tech devs to Devlopers A, U, and V.
Some discussion is nice, but some of you guys get too worked up over the details. Let's try to have a little fun with this.
1. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis - This was the one game back in the day that I was really hoping would make the move over to SCD. With point and click adventures finding their way on the SCD, I was a little disappointed that they didn't port this one over.
2. TMNT: Turtles in Time or The Arcade Game - After the mess that was Hyperstone Heist, I would have been happy with a perfect port of TiT, although a version of the Arcade Game would have been nice.
3. The Simpsons Arcade Game - I loved this at the arcade. I find it odd that a console port was never attempted. I certainly would have settled for a watered down port on the SCD.
4. Castlevania: Rhondo of Blood - This certainly would have been nice. Snatcher was definately nice, but a little more SCD love from Konami might have gone a long way with the Sega faithful.
5. T2: The Arcade Game - This was a fave of mine at the arcade. I'm sure I would have picked it up if there was a beefed up version of it for SCD. Of course, the SCD version would have had to have been vastly superior to the Genny version (kinda like the differences between the cart and SCD versions of the Terminator).
6. Mega Man: The Wily Wars (or any Mega Man game for that matter) - I do find it silly that this didn't make it to the states. Did Capcom even try to develop any games for the SCD? They have so much IP that would have been nice on the SCD.
7. Street Fighter 2 - I know this has been brought up in a legthy thread, but we're just dreaming right now. A version of this, which would have had to have been a definative version of the game, would have been great on the SCD, especially at the time. I know I would have picked it up.
8. A new Streets of Rage game - Hell, i would have been happy with just SoR 2 or 3 with pumped up music, although a new game would have been even better...well, as long as they weren't trying to re-invent the wheel with it.
9. The Star Wars Trilogy - At the time, if I was jealous of SNES third party games, it was those JVC Star Wars games. Since JVC was really supporting the SCD, I was really hoping that they would port those games over to the SCD. It would have been really nice, but alas...
10. Shadowrun and 8x8 Eyes - Ooohh, how I would have loved it if they brought them over to the states. Actually, seeing stills of 8x8 Eyes before the SCD hit the states is what made me really want to get a SCD when it did get to the states. What a tease!
