I think you're in the majority here! The model 1 Genesis looks best IMHO as does the model 1 Sega CD and they look the best together no doubt. Too bad my model 1 Sega CD doesn't work while my model 2 does. But that's another story.
I prefer a different set up. I'll let you guess what it is.
I will admit that I like the 2.0 bios song more than the original, but I think the model 2 cd + model 1 genny is just too big. When I got a Sega CD in 1993 for christmas, I was sad when it was a model 2. :(
I always liked how it followed the same lines as the model one.
I go with the Mega CD looks instead (it doesn't matter which Genesis/MD is attached to it) :ok:

wtf is that?!
That is a UK only (I think it may have been sold across Europe) Mega Drive clone, it was kind of awesome being that it was 100% compatible and allowed you to install a games PCB into the bottom of the console and have the console boot to it when there's not a cart inserted.
IIRC it also had region switches straight out of the factory
I must have it!, what is it called?
I love the model 1 CD when paired with the model 1 system. The model 1 system by itself is rather ugly. Prefer the looks of the model 2.
The model 1 setup is a space saver.
Nah, its a Brazilian MD/Genesis clone called "Megavision" (you nailed the specs thou ;) )... There's an old thread about it around here somewhere

But at the end of the day aren't the specs all that matters? XD
Not sure when that thread was active but I'm starting to remember having read it a few times.
wahhhh, I can't find one anywhere, dam u exclusive console
Yeah the model 1 SCD is fuckin' sexy. Too bad those things aren't as sturdy as the model 2. The cost of looking good I guess.
Bows down...
Model 1 with CD 1 does indeed looks great. The model 1 also looks great with the CD 2 provided it has the base extender. The model 2 Genesis also looks good with the CD 2 but is horrible with the CD 1. Out of all the combinations, the model 1 Genesis and model 1 CD is no doubt the best looking and saves more space horizontally than it takes vertically, even if the 32X or PBC is connected. It is my preferred setup, with the mixing cable and all, making it the ultimate and essential way to play.
Yeah the Model 1 combo is a killer one.
I've been wanting a model 1 SEGA CD with mixing cable of course that works good. But that's not happening with the amount of money I make. The model 1 Sega CD would probally allow ripping from it's own sound chip without the noise of the Genesis for non-redbook audio using the audio jacks (in theory). Plus get a camera and it's time to make it a super model! :D
There will never be a better looking, more sleek, better designed console plus add-on pair than the Sega CD 1 with a Genesis 1. It looks so cool that I even like it with a 32X exploding from the Genesis cartridge port. ;)
Like most, I love the model 1 set up. I had it back in the day, and stupidly got rid of it, but it really wasn't built to last - I'm sure it would have crapped out on me eventually. If I were to get my hands on a working model now, I doubt I would even use it often (if at all).
