I cant seem to hold interest in 16bit games as much as i used to..
Now I am playing the greatest Beat Em Up ever in the psx library
Fighting Force, fully souped up graphics much better than the original hardware could ever do and THIS GAME IS STREETS OF RAGE + FINAL FIGHT + 3D holllyy crap, multiple paths , bad ass gameplay with pipes guns ect
any other good psx 3D beat em ups?

I'm in the opposite direction. I can't stay focused on PS1 era games very well, but 16 bit I can play forever. Its why I get so much play time out of my little Nomad knock-off. And soon, with luck, I'll be getting back into SNES gaming!
I'm sorry - but nothing can replace 16-bit.

That looks fun. I have not heard of that PS1 game.
I was under the impression that Fighting Force was considered quite poor.
^not if you like Streets of Rage its not, its like an ODE to 90s beat em ups, complete with epic top of skyscraper fights, even the motorcycle guys run you down and you need to jump kick the off the bikes. I had a blast, about to play part 2 now.
Jackie Chan as much as I am a fan of him, i really liked the presentation of the game and his voice, but the game has crappy controls and PLATFORMING and the title is a like NO STUNTS
I thought Fighting Force was an outsourced sequel to Streets of Rage that Sega dropped?
I've heard that too. I think that Fighting Force was supposed to be Streets of Rage 3D.

just played 5 minutes of Fighting Force 2, DESTROYED THE GAME, not even a beat em up anymore, its like another company or team made it. No more urban streets, no more beating up multiple goons, street thugs,FBI like men in black, then towards game end ninjas and cooler bad guys
nope , they made it more gunbased and military, im gonna give it another 10 minutes to see if its just a fluke first level, if not IM moving on to Fist Of the North star psx, another true to the old school yet 3D beat em, similar to ther original Sega Genesis game, where the guys blow up into blood in the Jap version
It depends on choice, but I prefer for 8 bit to 16 bit. Anyone born in 70's or 80's would know about frogger, tetris, mario, and sonic. At this time 16 bit is more than enough.
I am waiting for the next 10,000,000 bit virtual reality or something, where player can use remote controlled humanoid robots to interact with real society. See: Surrogates (2009) by Bruce Willis.

Fighting Force 2 is actually an awesome game on its own. IT HAS NO RIGHT TO BE CALLED FIGHTING FORCE though, it has ditched the early 90s style beat the street punk and crime bosses with martial arts and weapons.... no no no no
They should have named it something else and it probably would have gotten the recognintion it deserves. Its kinda like a much better playin Winback but with less stealth and more gun fights and ass kicking.. Cool game for sure but its more of a covert op 3rd person shooter with some butt kicking mele

Fighting Force really isn't that great IMO. It's repetitive and for some reason the demo version showcases better gameplay than the released game. It's decent enough though, unlike Fighting Force 2 which I found to be truly dreadful. Anyway, I think the best 3D beat 'em up on PSX is Gekido. Saturn has Die Hard Arcade, which is probably the best 3D beat 'em up of all time.

Fighting Force is terrible.
There is a severe lack of good beat em ups past the 16-bit era. I can't even think of one right now; it's like the genre just died on the spot.

I thought Zombie Revenge was above average, and Spikeout: Battlestreet is as good as it gets even though it is hard as hell in single player.
God Hand is amazing IMO.
I avoided Fighting Force for many years because I heard how bad it was but I finally got it last year and gave it a try. The enemies are cheap, repetitive, and fustrating BUT with the invincibilty code its much more fun and playable. You got a decent set of characters and moves, a lot of weapons to pick up, multiple paths to choose and you have to beat the game 3 times to see all the levels. Without the invincibilty code no way would I subject myself to the torture of playing through it though and I wouldnt even be able to get far in it because its too hard.
Gekkido on the other hand, I played when it came out and didnt like it at all plus it had the worst and most repetitive soundtrack of all time.
8 and 16 bit games are the best

I been that way for a while now. That's why I always made the suggestion for Melf to expand the forum to Sega Saturn. as years go by, the 16-bit era is increasingly getting old and less interesting to me.
At least with a Sega Saturn board there could be more 32-bit focused discussions between Saturn vs PlayStation as there have been with the Genesis boards and the vs SNES threads.
but the way things seem to be here, nothing changes, and I find myself posting less and less here.

WOW!!!! it looks much better on Saturn!! maybe not graphically but the levels are very different and the gameplay is more Stret of Ragish, now I understand why the USA demo of FF played better than the final release

this Dragon Valor game is incredile, Can amyome recommend some other good beat em like games for the system,, like Fist of the Norh Star, Fighting FOrce 1, Lucifers Ring, Brave Fencer Musashi ,japanes beat em ups are welcome as long as not much jap knowledge isneeded

As for 32-bit gaming, there is an absolute TON of gaming out there, and it's pretty cheap. Also, since the PS3 seems fairly backwards compatible with PS1 games, they're easy to play. That's a pretty bad example. Jet Moto was widely criticized at the time for its ugly graphics (but praised for gameplay etc.). Jet Moto 3 is much better looking.Quote:
