Well, the 3DS drops $80 come August 11th due to lacking sales. What do you guys think about this?
I'm going to buy one when the holiday season rolls around for sure, especially with all the great titles coming out like Mario Kart and Luigi's Mansion 2.
I"ll be guessing there will be no such price drop in the UK, as usual.

Awesome news! Looks like I'll be grabbing a 3DS come this Christmas once those good games get released.
Now if they'd just drop the DSiXL to $99 all will be right with the world.
Yeah! I've been waiting on that as well. The screen is too small on the 3DS, and if I'm going to shell out the cash for a handheld, I'm not going for the worst option. They'll probably release a 3DS xl in a couple years.Quote:

No surprise it is a blunder, they keep releasing the same console with minor improvements, people don't know what to buy. So what have they got- DS, DS lite, DSi, DSiXL, 3DS. Do they get this one or wait 6 months for the next one? It sounds like the 32X/Saturn saga all over again.

Yeah, an $80 price drop does seem desperate. Honestly, with all the 3D hype going on, I figured the 3DS would at least see some moderate success, especially since it doesn't require glasses. Or is 3D not selling to the general public as well as the hype makes it out to be?
That's good news indeed. I'm still waiting for new, original material to be released, though. Perhaps by Christmas, who knows? But it sure does sound scary. Only systems that flop make such drastic drops in prices. What will that make the DSi XL, then? I think I'm quite excited about that price drop as well. :)
I have yet to see an interesting retail game announced, so I am not going for a 3DS any time soon. All it has are lame ports and needless sequels (do I really need Mario Kart again?).
I am mostly excited to play a few of the VC titles, which to me is not worth a 200 dollar handheld (which is the MSRP here now).
Maybe in a few years when it has good software, a decent price, and a larger model.
I'd like to see them fix the black 3DS top screen scratching first. I emailed them and the response is "We'd like to talk to you".
Ohhhh boy I sure you do!! I don't like calling up call centers because I usually get another country I don't understand. (Ironic, because I work in a call center, but it's American).
If people continue to just "wait things out" and not actually buy anything, there probably won't be a 3DS around in a few years. Nintendo needs to put out their usual sequels to at least give the 3DS good footing, then once system and game sales pick up, third parties will likely be more inclined to support the platform, then all you whiners will get your original games.
