I have 3.61, and was able to get a great pack of filters for it. One was called "Scanline TV(VBA Forgotten Author)". That's hands down, my favorite render filter. Unfortunately, it doesn't really work with anything past 3.61. The scanlines in the other emulators look terrible, while using this filter. Really uneven. And I find the "Normal" with "Scanlines", a bit too blurry in this version of Kega.
Well, anyway, has anyone made a good pack o' filters for this thing?
There aren't many image scaling filters more advanced than the ones provided by default by kega, other than some CRT emulation filters and a really awesome one by microsoft research that's too slow for emulation.
Blurry? You need to disable "Filtered".
Normal + 25% scanlines + Brighten (to compensate for the scanlines) looks great.
Post a pic of your favorite filtered screen type.

Well, I thought I had this figured out.
Basically, I like the way Scanline TV looks, but some scanlines are darker than others. I've tried all resolutions. I had the same problem in ZSNES. Oh well.

Man, take out filtered, pixelated goodness makes it better. Filtered is supposed to be used with stuff like Scale4x which goes nuts if the window isn't exactly 4x (like in fullscreen mode).Quote:

Don't mind the lack of black bars at the top and bottom, it's just sloppy cutting.
Well if you really want the TV look you should use MD NTSC and not filtered anyway :)
Might as well take advantage of the fact that you're using an emulator to get a really sweet clear picture.
Too blurry. The reason for not using MD NTSC is because you don't sit 5 feet away from the screen as you would from a TV.

Humm, what do you mean? 4x HQ? I use full screen and normal + filtered is not too blurry. MD NTSC is. I don't like the HQ filters, because it doesn't look anything like the real deal. It's too clean.Quote:

I used to like Gens32 Surreal for its 'proprietary' 2X filter, but in recent years the author managed to mess up the audio code for good, so Fusion is the only emulator that I use. Wish I could import that plugin, as I still like it the best.
Yup, or you could try to experiment with more scanlines and turn brighten off. It depends a little on your contrast/brightness screen setup.Quote:

Wouldn't these options make the game sound better than the actual console? I'm a little obsessed about making games look and sound as close as possible to the actual console on a tv, but a know nothing about how fusion changes things. I was under the impression that the most "realistic" setup would be 22050Hz e all other options turned off.Quote:

No, SuperHQ is about the accuracy of the sound emulation (it takes more processing time but the sound is more accurate). 22050Hz does seem to sound more like the genesis but it's just an accident that it does. It kinda muffles the sound a bit which makes it sound more real, but 44100Hz allows for much better emulation.Quote:

Man, you got to have a filter on, if you're going to use Double, Normal, or Quad. The Genesis didn't look THAT pixelated!
Does no one here have 3.6? The plug in Scanline TV, looks great. Unfortunately, the aspect ratio gets wonky in a few games, like MW IV. I'll use it for most, and use the other for MW IV. Double, Filtered.

I would love to hear some feedback, like "yeah, that does look great" or "man, you suck, and you're crazy".
To me, it looks like Double Filtered, with a smidgen of bilinear to make it look a little less pixelated. I wish someone would make this for the other ones, since the scanlines are all uneven in later releases.

Here's the best I can get to that, on anything after 3.6. It's a little more pixelated. Oddly, the scanlines don't show up AT ALL in this screenshot. I don't know why.

3.6 with Scanline TV seems like this, but with a slight touch of Bilinear.
It's very frustrating, because "Normal", which is what I saw that you use, is just a little too blurry, as Double is a little too pixelated. GAH! Scanline TV was perfect.
Who makes these plug-ins? Maybe i'll send in a request.
You know, I got this to work perfectly in later versions, by playing the game windowed. I don't know why, but I have the same issue with VBAM. If I play them Windowed, I can actually turn of VSync, and have no lag also. I don't know why it gets all choppy and weird scanlines in fullscreen.
