I'm interested in someone making a Monster World IV- in English- Cart for me. I have the JP version, for my collection, but i'd love to play it in English on my system.
How do you go about doing this? Who does it? I've actually read in another forum that someone here used to do it.
I'm not looking for anything fancy. It can just be a black cart.
big enough 16bit EPROM, donor cart, EPROM programmer that can do 16bit chips (+eraser if the EPROM is not clean), soldering iron, skill, patience

I got my Monster World IV from user bratwurst here at Sega-16.
chôkai who posted here also makes great repros, but he is in Germany, so depending on where you live it might be too expensive because of shipping cost.
playgen was the first here to do repros (he even did manuals), his stuff looked like new, but he is not doing repros anymore.
God, I wish Brat and Playgen still did theirs. They had manuals, SO fantastic. I was able to get some manuals from Brat but I wish they still did the whole deal.
@MrMark, I've been looking at yours for a while. I'd probably get five or six if I do. Few questions, though - are you using donor cases from Genesis games or are you using universal game cases? It looked like the Indy game was a universal, but I have some of Brat's manuals so I'd want to have a case that has the clips for the manual to go in the clamshell and not flop around.
The other question I have is that from looking at your SegaAge thread it seems that most of your cart labels are not sized properly? Especially visible here:

The cart labels are obviously the box art but stretched to fit the wider/squatter cart instead of the box. It's like a 4:3 image stretched on a widescreen tv. Have you fixed this with your more recent repros?

Actually, on second thought, yours was probably a better estimate than mine. I never bother rewiring a board smaller than 2 MB to accommodate a bigger game, but it could be done so that pretty much any battery backed SRAM game could be made a MWIV. My apologies.Quote:

As for Universal Game Cases, I am going to use those on any limited 50 game runs that I do in the future as it as close to a new product as O can create at the moment, but all reproductions I do are in standard carts and clam shells. I will do EA cases for games that were meant to be published by EA (Jelly Boy, It Came from the Desert, etc.), but nothing else.

id have to say that they were very good repro's, on 5 out of the 6 carts though the labels came off from the top of the carts. Mark said to me to maybe try some prit stick on them. i opted against this as im quite heavy handed and thought id just end up messing the labels up so the labels are well and truely away on the top of the carts, the rest of the carts are fine though. When i said they dont look brand new im guessing that its hard to get the games to look new when using second hand boxes and carts. brand new sega boxes are readily available on ebay though and if i could give them any advise it would be to buy the brand new cases from the , or elsewhere, and use them.Quote:

Yes, definitely agree with the glue issue and I've addressed the problem since. Not sure what happened with that batch of sticker paper I used, but yours weren't the only ones that had the end labels come up in shipping. New paper, better product :)
I'd love to use brand new cases, but the cost is prohibitive unless I get a mold myself (working on it) or buy in huge bulk lots, which is also an option. I absolutely agree that I'd be providing a superior product with new cases, but unfortunately can't do it just yet.
I'm glad you thought the quality was decent overall, and I'm always willing to work with a customer to ensure that they're happy. Always trying to improve the product and customer service.

Is there a list of games that you repro? or do you just take custom requests? Also how much does a repro typically cost from you? I was one of the original people that bought Hangman:SG which I think you worked on. I was happy with the product except for one small detail. It was an Acclaim case and therefore had the Acclaim logo where the cart is held. It doesn't bother me too much though. I guess I shouldn't have picked #13 as my cart number................

GK: Sounds good to me! Matt and I are FINALLY settled into our new house, well, sort of. Matt's bathroom is gutted to the studs and neither one of us have counter tops, but we're almost living life as usual, so I can definitely fulfill some more orders. It's a lot of work, even more work printing them out and putting them together. I'd like to make some more, but I just never have the time, especially for an RPG like Magic Warrior, the manual would be fairly long since that game is as complex as any officially licensed RPG.

Very happy with the way the art looks like, I really tuned my printer to the point that I love the resulting prints.

I think Repo sellers are awesome. Just being able to buy a US version of Terranigma blows my mind. I shelled out around $100 for a UK copy, and then had to find a rare converter for it.
