Crush 40

You know, that group that does the Sonic music that most people seem to bash for no good reason.

Anyone here a fan? Fav tracks of there's are their version of His World, Watch Me Fly and my all-time fav, Never Turn Back.

So.. what do you guys think of them?

Way too cheesy. They at least know how to play their instruments.

You should give those tracks I listed a quick listen; not cheesy imo.

Fine, they're cheesy; but so is Survivor's Eye of the Tiger and Europe's The Final Countdown; two of my all time fav songs. Cheese is gooodd....

Yes those 2 songs are also extremely cheesy. I know even cheesier songs.

IMO they're good. I'm also into the whole "cheesy is good" thing.

In all seriousness, if you enjoyed those tracks you should look into any of the other works of Jun Senoue, who is responsible for most of the duo's music. He is a talented and unique composer who really shines to my ears. The hard part was finding the music, but I would imagine it's quite a bit easier nowadays with the widespread reach of the internet. When I first got into his music, the internet wasn't nearly as helpful (2002-03) so I essentially had to buy most of the albums (and got zapped by bootlegs! Those are the worst).

However, you should really play the games and experience the music through them first as that provides more of an impact if you're into the whole experience, in my opinion.

If you're looking for stand-out examples, I always enjoyed the work of the Sonic Adventures and Shadow The Hedgehog. Another great soundtrack is the one from Sonic The Hedgehog '06. One can tell that a large amount of work was put into the music. The soundtrack is otherwise let down by the less than stellar game itself (unfinished rather). There are others but those are good starting points.

Otherwise just start looking through and see what you like, discovering new music is one of my favorite activities.

I've been a 'follower' of Jun's since Sonic 3; but it's the Sonic Adventure+ music he did as Crush 40 that made me a fan. I've pretty much got all their music in mp3 format; though I would like to track down their earlier Sons of Angels CD; most of it I've never heard before.

@Kamahl: And I'm sure you can; those two were just quick examples. Given the time, I could list loads more. ;)

@M4R1: I do like Open Your Heart, but Sonic Heroes isn't for me. Live and Learn and What I'm Made Of are much better, but that's just my opinion.

Pretty expensive. I know there was a European release as well, but that goes for £30 + last time I checked on Ebay...

Don't wonna bootleg it, but push comes to shove one of thes days and might just go down that route.

I think I'll just check an eye out, maybe a cheap copy will pop up. Thanks Blades. :)

Speaking of Jun Senoue, I have his The Works album. Not bad.

Crush 40 sounds like 80s hair metal. Comparisons to bands such as Mr. Big spring to mind.

It really doesn't get any cheesier than that.

Yeah, I love that genre. Even own the Top Gun OST funny enough.
