Aside from your country of residence, of course.

And by "been to", I mean on the ground. Airports DO count! After all, if you get off the plane and punch someone in the face, you will go to the local jail, under local laws.

Man, I would love to visit Newfoundland. I love visiting Canada, but i've only been to Ontario, B.C., and Yukon Territory.

For those of you in the Southern U.K., how cost effective is it for you to visit continental Europe? If I moved to Europe, i'd buy a Europass and hit as many countries as I could during any extended amount of free time.

I can get a return ticket to New York for about half of a monthly average wage (~$1000)

Canada - we cut through it coming back from our family vacation to Niagara Falls in '99. We stayed at some random hotel about half-way to Detroit. Another family arrived at the hotel the same time and a pretty girl about my age held the door open for me. As I passed by her she said something that sounded very flirty and cute, but it was in FRENCH. I just gave her a dumbfounded look and replied with an inquisitive th-th-thank you (I guess)??? She returned the look. Then we both dropped our shoulders and simultaneously sighed then went on our separate ways. It was funny, but disappointing. And that is my overall Canada experience. Thank you for listening.

One problem US citizens have is that we only only border two other countries and all three North American countries are huge. I would imagine it would be easier to have larger number on this list living in say Germany than living in the middle of Kansas. Also just exploring one of these nations is like exploring many small countries. In the US the Southwest is completely different from the East or the South for example. Also another factor is lack of vacation time. We just don't get it and if we do its like two weeks. My wife has also noted that tickets seem to be more expensive here.

Besides being in Canada, I've also been to the...US. I've been to New York and Florida.

I've barely been out of my state, let alone the U.S.. I really, really, really want to go to Europe (Preferably Germany or Italy, but I would be extremely happy to get to visit any one of them), but, alas, I am 15 and my parents aren't too fond of the idea of me being overseas. I do have fairly close relatives in Germany, but I can never convince my parents to let me stay with them. Though, I can totally understand their reasoning and am not terribly angry with them. I guess I'll just have to wait until I'm a billionaire with 3 solid gold private jets to travel around teh wurldz.

I've traveled a bit around Canada, but never outside the country. It's never even really crossed my mind. "Seeing the world" has never really meant much to me, especially when I learned of the internet. I don't see any reason to leave the comfort of my own home considering how costly it can be to go vacation somewhere. Not to mention, I'd probably adjust poorly to warmer climates, cultures and especially diseases and viruses. I haven't often heard of a person who for instance, went to Mexico for a vacation and didn't come back with some weird foreign disease. But I'm merely talking about local people.

I don't mean to belittle anyone else's journeys across the world, in fact you'll probably belittle me, but I kind of felt like contributing to the thread... Even though it seems like I'm one of the few to have this sort of an answer. More power to ya guys if you love to travel, but for now I'm happy right where I am.

I travel a lot by car, so hitting several countries at once is really easy.
I think buying a car, then selling it when you go back to the states is probably the best thing to do when you visit Europe. You could of course fly everywhere, but you'll miss out on a lot of sights.

I've only ever been to the US, Canada, and the UK. I'd like to get out and travel all over someday, but I just don't have the money anytime soon.

A lot of people point this out, but it's not really fair. The U.S. is HUGE, and you can only really go to Canada or Mexico(and who the hell wants to go there?!). And flying across the sea, to go to Europe is a big deal, for most people. Now, a lot of people travel within the country. Which makes us kind of blind to other cultures, but it's probably more miles traveled than most Europeans, who go to England to France to Germany. They're basically State-sized. For instance, I live in WV, and to travel to California, it's like an 7 or 8 hour flight. That's pretty heavy.

But anyway...I've been to Spain and Portugal(but just for a few hours). Spain mainly.

True, substitute all countries that are part of the European Union with the EU, and most Europeans will have travelled far less by comparison. Still, it appears as if there were more Europeans visiting the Americas than vice versa.

Yeah, they absolutely do seem to come here, more than we go there. But I was just trying to make a bit of a statement, that they shouldn't be so hard on us for not traveling. We do...just not across the ocean...much. However, I know many people who dream of going to Europe. It's just not in the cards, financially though.

If you know the right people, North Dakota is just fine. The only tourist "attraction" we've got is Medora, a particularly interesting area of land in the badlands. I've never been there, but the geography is supposed to be rather pretty. Other than that, you have to depend on friends or relatives to take you to interesting places. There's usually someone interesting holed up somewhere. If your into hunting or fishing, ND seems like a pretty good place.

Also, I really like the architecture in Italy. My brother has been there and he says that the buildings are astonishing. Also, I'm sure they have damn good Italian food there. Or, "food" as they call it. ;) Really, it's the architecture I'm most interested in.

The only other country I've been to is Mexico, to some border city called Algodones. It's a total cesspool. I hope the REST of Mexico isn't like that.

I'll concur with my North American brothers, leaving this continent is EXPENSIVE. My wife and I paid over $4000 for both of us to fly to Italy. In COACH.

Meanwhile, my ticket from Kuwait City to Dubai was $100. And let me tell you, they know how to fly in the Middle East..

I've been in Finland, Åland and Cyprus. Nothing more.
