I just got a near-mint Saturn free from a guy I work with at EB Games. It has two controllers, the original instructions and stickers and everything, all the cables, Virtua Fighter 2, and a bunch of demos. And I'm oddly compelled to buy more games for it.
So my question is simply this: what do you guys think is worth getting for the Saturn? My only critieria is that it has to not suck.

You have to be a little more specific, if you don't want lists of triple-digit length.
Alright, that's fair. Really, I'm just hoping for some non-sports stuff, maybe something along the lines of FPS's or scrolling shooters. I already have Darius Gaiden, anything else I should look for?
Of the games i have i'd say you should check out:
Street Fighter alpha 2-my favorite street fighter
Panzer Dragoon -awesome on-rails shooter, great graphics and music
Panzer Dragoon Zwei- this one's even better
Galactic Attack- vertical scrolling shmup
Nights- very unique and beautiful game, maybe my favorite on the saturn
Powerslave- interesting old school FPS with an egyptian theme
Sega Rally- great arcade racer
Sonic R-sonic racing game, nice 3d graphics for saturn
Gex- noone talks about this one much but it's a solid old school platformer with nice 2d visuals
In the hunt- side scrolling shmup, you play as a submarine, drawn by some the dudes that did metal slug
there's plenty of other good ones but i've only had a lot of experience with these
There's tons and tons of really good games on the Saturn. If you're primarily interested in shooters there's a lot of interesting ones to look up, but there really are tons of awesome games. Just takes a bit of patience.

I'll add that Burning Rangers is a must have for the Saturn.
There are lots of great fighting games, platformers and RPG's too. It really just depends on how far you want to expand.
Okay, well, for FPS, there are three great ones on Saturn: Powerslave, Duke Nukem 3D, and Quake. Powerslave is my favorite of the three. There are some other decent ones (Congo is okayish, good port of Doom), but those are the 3 to get.Quote:

If you can play imports... well, the import shooters are some of the most expensive games on the system. Games like Souky and Battle Garegga may be great shooters, but their relatively high price makes them lower-priority purchases IMO. For some cheaper shooters that are awesome, I recommend Layer Section II (sequel to Galactic Attack), Strikers 1945, and Gradius Deluxe Pack, to start off.
There are also some good mech shooters. In particular, Gungriffon is awesome, and so is MechWarrior 2. For a couple of good tank shooters, check out Shellshock and Assault Rigs (European import). If 3D space shooters are your thing, Solar Eclipse is probably the best one that's not Stellar Assault. Miscellaneously, I also recommend Thunderstrike 2, the sequel to the Sega CD game.
On a completely separate note, everybody needs NiGHTS. Everybody.
And Burning Rangers, while Buring Rangers has graphical glitches it still looks good. With NiGHTS and Burning Rangers I don't see why people bitched about a lack of Sonic on the Saturn.Quote:

My vote goes for Rayman. It's a cute as hell platformer, magnificently sprite-based. I hate having to get everything in the game to see the final boss, though >:[
Burning Rangers and NiGHTS are totally on my list, although, at least for Burning Rangers, I'm worried about how easy it is to come by. Powerslave and Duke Nukem 3D sound promising too.
Wasn't there a Resident Evil 1 port for the Saturn?
Burning Rangers was amazingly boring.
There is a Resident Evil for the Saturn, don't know why anyone would want it over the PlayStation game though. The 6 button pad's not suited & all the graphics are wank all the way to the smoke/vapour effects made of mesh.
Entombed (Powerslave) & Duke Nukem are quality. Plus if you have an Entombed or Quake save it opens Death Tank on Duke Nukem no questions asked. Death Tank is still a regular here at weekends.
