It's incredible how cheap Gamecube systems are at the moment, especially considering the quality first-party titles for the system.
I bought one new in 2003, but sold it a few years ago.
Friday, I spotted a complete Gamecube setup at a thrift store for $10, which I promptly scooped up.
Mario Power Tennis time.
I tried playing mine yesterday. Apparently the memory cards die after about 6 years...
For comparison, my SEGA CD saves from 1993 are still there.
The system's cheap; some of the games though, can be really expensive. MGS TTS can go for 40-100+.
I agree completely. More than completely actually, the Gamecube doesn't get anywhere near the respect it deserves. Much like with N64, I just assume anyone who bashes the Gamecube because it has no good games, clearly has not owned or played very much of the Gamecube. There's tons of great games available, including some excellent cross platform titles that are usually better than the PS2 version (Xbox usually beats both consoles out for multi-platform games). The Gamecube is also purple and has a lunch-box handle, AND the controller has leprosy. Utterly fantastic. Couple that with the inability to save and we have a brilliant console here.

The Gamecube is the only Nintendo console that I ever came close to buying, but it has never actually happened... It's got some great exclusive games, and most of it is dirt cheap, but right now the last thing I'm waiting for is yet another console to collect for.
I highly recommend the GBA player as well! Make sure you get the disc with it though.

I love my Indigo Gamecube. It's probably my favorite console from the last Generation.
I've got a black and grey Gamecube. Because of the GBA Player I have not been willing to part with it. Actually, thanks to the GBA Player I haven't replaced my Gamecube with a Wii yet. I'm anticipating $50 Wii prices soon though.
GameCube does suck. It has some pretty good games, but the majority of the best ones are on Xbox or PlayStation 2, and they usually played best on Xbox regardless.
Outside of Wave Race, Beach Spikers and Pikmin 2, there are not many exclusives that are all that good. I personally adore The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (beat it 5 times... seriously) but it is so hard to show off to people without them thinking it is a weird game for babies. Do not even get me started on the multiple times I tried showing people Animal Crossing.
Most of the best games that are exclusive (and there are not many) will eventually be upgraded to Wii U or something eventually anyways. I guess titles like Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat or Odama will always remain most interesting on GameCube specifically, but is that really that big of a deal at the end of the day? Even the most unique gimmicky shit will be replaced in some form by the 3DS or Wii U, like those GBA Link Cable games.
The controller is also one of the worst first party controllers ever by anyone. The WaveBird was neat for it's time, but the awful button layout on the face buttons and weird L and R...things and that awful Z clicker are just horrid. This all coming from someone who loves the Xbox Duke controller and has successfully used a SEGA Activator a few times.
There is a reason the console is dirt cheap. Even consoles like the Jaguar and 32X are more expensive now. Damn, even original Game Boys go for more sometimes. I think that should say everything there is to say about the GameCube.
GameCube was my least favorite console in the last gen, but it certainly had some great games.

And the only reason F-Zero GX is good (only good game on the console) is because SEGA made it for Nintendo.
Oh come on now, the F-Zero series was always good. Both the original and X were great games. GX is the best though, SEGA were the masters of arcade racers after all.
