I lost track of the latest in PC tech in the early 2000s. I'd just get whatever's fastest within a $2000 budget (including monitor, of course).

Well, I know someone that has an octo-core i7 processor, with 16GB RAM, a 2TB Hard Drive, and a 4GB Video Card, and it didn't cost him any more than that.

Nope, I've never seen an apple computing product in my life, because nobody in my area can afford one. By the way, the "i7" is an Intel processor, and has nothing to do with apple, thankfully.

I believe the AMD Bulldozer is the fastest processor you can get now.
