I remember seeing this game in many gaming magazines in the mid 90s, I wanted it so badly. a few stores even had it advertised as coming soon but I kept checking those stores back then and it never came out, I was dissappointed. it would be awesome if sega ever decided to release it finally like in one last sonic collection with maybe the sega sonic arcade game.
According to one site, Sonic X-Treme has been found and released!!!! Well, not quite. It's just a simple demo, but it will run on a Saturn if yours can play CD-Rs. Download the torrent right here. Supposedly this runs on the Nights engine, and does NOT contain the fisheye view.
If you'd rather not download (I don't blame you) or your Saturn can't play CD-R games or Japanese region games, then watch me play it with the videos below. It's short, but trust me that I left absolutely nothing out. This is the entire "game" from start to the game over screen. I did truncate the time you wait around for the Game Over screen, though. It's a bit over 1 minute long. Sorry about the large file size, but these are full 60fps.

Yeah looks like it, havent had a chance to test it yet, but yeah like the video given out mostly.
No fisheye camera though.
From everything I've read / seen about Sonic X-Treme, it was a mercy killing. Merciful for the game, and merciful for the players. This would've just been a complete disaster.
This bloody thing makes ytmd seem like a 5 star endorsement of the sonic games, I'm surprised the word "tosh" hasn't been banded about at least umpteen times, Sonic was a classic 2d side scrolling platformer, why do people think they're getting the same game just because some blue (now different looking) character of the same name is in the game!!!
Is ... is that Sonic CD's BGM (Collision Chaos Past & Game Over?) used? Please tell me you didn't just paste that on top of your footage, Joe.

To be fair, it's simply a technical demonstration from SEGA of America's implodey years. Using Sonic CD's music is still like placing a cherry on top of a great big steaming turd, though.Quote:

I dunno, back in the day I was pretty hyped about the game. I was excited by a lot of the new ideas. On the other hand, it didn't look like it played much like a Sonic game. Less speed, more platforming.Quote:
