Only one AC adapter I worried about leaving plugged in, I was even afraid to use it because it will get so hot that I couldn't touch it. It was a cheap 3rd party adapter (and the first time I ever used one), I threw that sucker away. From my knowledge, the official SEGA adapters don't even get a fraction as hot.Quote:

On an odd result though, my laptops charger, when unplugged from the laptop but in the outlet, consumes NOTHING at all, 0.0 watts.

I'm amazed at the number of people who do unplug their AC or turn off their power strip. I assumed everyone else was a lazy, wasteful bastard like me:)
I'm like Guntz; my stuff is plugged in behind my entertainment center and not readily accessible. I'm good about turning off lights, etc., but have never been good about unplugging power supplies (or turning off power strips).
I just switch the power strip off.
I only unplug my electrical appliances when I go away from home for more than a few days. And instead of unplugging all the individual devices, I just unplug the power strips. Other than that, normally everything remains plugged in all the time.
Two of my megadrives are on a powerstrip that is switch off at night but one is always plugged in.

Very interesting number of votes for both.
Modern switching power supplies use no energy unless actively powering something. It's the older supplies like the one on the Genesis or NES that waste electricity. Basically any power supply that gets warm even when the device is turned off is wasting energy and money.Quote:

My power strip is filled up with my TV, Cable box, and 2 consoles so I really can't turn it off, it would just be a pain. I leave my Genesis plugged in(Except during storms). Figured that the Blast Processor needs some power even when turned off. But my Genesis prefers to be turned on, much like me. :p
I keep reading things like, "It's behind my entertainment center so would be a pain" or "I am too lazy to bother". Well, how much of a pain is it going to be the day it all gets cooked through a power surge? Do the math on replacement cost alone.
