Mugen fighters

Well after failing miserably at beating god rugal today, I spent the whole day learning how to tinker with mugen.

I took the Capcom vs SNK 2007 game and took out the stupid guilty gear characters that were randomly thrown in there for some reason and replacing them with actual Capcom and SNK characters.

Made a pretty comprehensive roster. Over 100 characters and backgrounds. I am now exhausted, time for a nap and when i wake up in the middle of the night it shall be BATTLE TIME



Now that my roster is complete I might start getting some new backgrounds and music.


Anyone else into or like Mugen?

I find that mugen stuff is horrible pieced together shit. I dont like recycling. If people make their own music, backgrounds and sprites I like it. Anything thats just ripped stuff is lame. Esspecially when its like 200 character roasters. People don't even understand balance at all.

I hate mugen for the simple fact that its the video game equivalent of Youtube AMVs.

There are a few very well made game Mugen games. This is what I'm playing my SNK vs CAPCOM 2007. Very balanced game, as balanced as Mugen can get that is.

Yeah that screen alone is enough to make me hate it. Look at that. Its fucking stupid. Balanced my fucking ass. Also whatever god awful filter they used when taking screenshots for those sprite pictures is crap. Its so over smoothing that I cant even tell who half those people are from just there thumbnails.

Yeah, that filter is terrible. Get it sorted. It makes all the portraits look WAY messed up.

Best one there is available for the game. It looks much better on a big screen you can make it all out. But they are already SMALL to begin with since there are so many characters

Okay, I thought it was you that made the SS, since you had the same kinda filter used in the Fatal Fury topic screenshots.

I did make the screen shot, but both games run off different filters

They both looks like a outdated 2xsai filter. HQx 2 / 4 filters are steps above that for 2d smoothing as it tries to preserve lines.

well its not an emulator its a PC game/program

Sorry for double posting, but last night I have learned how to truly customize Mugen completely. Well, I can swap characters out now, change backgrounds along with background music, heck I can put real world songs if I wanted.

I give hard bosses an awesome RPG boss theme to make the fight even more epic!

I wish I knew how to tinker with the character CPU's and control schemes for certain individual characters. But that seems almost incomprehensible for my primitive mind

For those of you against filtering, look how good it looks on a big screen, its really only meant for bigger HDTVs and they look handrawn. I got up real close to try and get as much detail as possible

Thanks, its an LG, 42 inch. Its rather old, Its an 07 and I got it in 2008. But it still looks FANTASTIC! Great gaming tv.

LG is the absolute best brand on the maret in my opinion. I know 3 other people with LGs all newer than mine and they put my TV to shame.

That filter still looks like shit. Seriously, turn it off. It's an insult to any kind of retro graphics artwork.

... But then again, this is Mugen, so carry on with your horrible fucking filter...

Yeah when i play my neogeo on this TV its PIXEL FREAKIN HELL

I had a buddy over the other day, we were playing NeoGeo first, when I put on the Mugen game he said "wow this one looks way better"

The common person dosnt see filter, he just sees smoother graphics.


Back on subject. you guys are right, Mugen 1 on 1 is very unbalanced in the single player game. So the only fun is to do 2 on 2 simultaneous. Its chaotic greatness.

When a buddy is over we can do hours of 1 on 1 fights due to the high volume of familiar characters or go 2 on 1 co op against the computer. Overall a second player is essential in all fighting games

My NEO-GEO over S-Video pure perfection. Just the right mix of video sharpness, color clarity, slight CRT anti-aliasing and scanlines (which I never see anyway). Filters make anything look like a fucking flash game. Seriously, look at the KOF sprite in your sig. Look how beautiful it looks. Now imagine it with your garbage filter, it'd look like total shit. Any and all defining lines would get smeared into this disgusting mess.

I think it looks pretty good on that TV with the filter on. Much better than on those screenshots you showed earlier.

Thats ironic you mention that sprite. It was one of largest complaints about 12 is that the sprites should of had been drawn at a higher resolution or been provided a filter because of how jagged they look on modern hdtv ( the thing the games will be played on ). So in kof 13 they zoomed the game out to make the sprites smaller to make them look less jagged.
