I've got a friend who is having issues running Lunar on his model 2 system.
He's unable to access the equip/status menu's like I can here:

Anyone ever hear of anything like this? Possible internal memory corrupt error?
Have you tried his disc on your system, just to rule out a bad disc?
yes, disc is fine
It doesn't sound like a normal error, it looks like you were able to save from the vid as well. My only guess would be maybe a glitchy connection in the Genesis/SegaCD part of the console. I would try having your friend take the Genesis off the SCD, clean the contacts on the Genesis a bit, put it back together, and then give it a try.
