The other slot is for Japanese Mark III-cartridges if I'm not mistaken.

Since the article mentions he has a Game Gear, he probably should've just gone for a converter for that. Then you can just use the start button for pause.
I have had one for about a month now and love it! It was the best option for my Model 2. I don't have a ton of Master System games but it has worked fine with the ones I have. I really haven't had any of the issues with it that was mentioned in the article. Mine feels like one solid piece with no looseness in the card.

Is the powerbase converter a one of a kind piece of art? Maybe read back your post and change your tone? It's a 20 year old accessory, and only plastic was cut. I'll pour a beer on the ground in honor of it later today. For you my friend.

I wish the tototek one had a complete plastic shell. I'd never cut my PBC, I can't seem to find another one anywhere to replace it if I needed to. That's the main reason, since I have considered it then decided against it. Do not cut.
Great article, IP! Am I correct in assuming you're referring to Luna Video Games there? You been to the new store yet? I think it's on Newport. I'm gonna try to make it out this weekend.
For the record, I too cut up a Power Base Converter to make it fit in a Genesis 2, and if anyone has a problem with that then tough cookies.

The Newport location is twice as big as the Voltaire store, and slightly smaller than their SDSU location. If you're familiar with that location, you already know the general layout. The parking is similar to before - the street can get a bit crowded, but there's usually somewhere to park during business hours. Pretty nice considering the store is only a block away from the beach.
One of the greatest aspects of having a bigger store is the ability to display all retro games in glass cases. I always felt bad when asking to see Genesis games before. Whoever was working would have to reach behind the counter and pull out several cases of games for me to look through. Now, you can browse much more easily.
The new location is just getting settled in, so there is naturally some clutter, but it's all behind the counter. So your experience should be just as great as shopping at the old Voltaire shop. The owner was working when we visited, and as always, he was great. Talked about current specials, and maybe some grand opening specials to come in a couple of weeks. And when you take those into account, the prices are pretty great.
As always, it was a great experience, and the Newport location should be great for both customers and the business. If you live in the area, you have to check them out.
Awesome, man. I can't wait to check it out! Ian's a great guy. He really knows his stuff and he's always down to talk Sega for an hour or so. He's even hooked me up with a free loose game before (Wipeout for Saturn)! Definitely worth the forty minute drive it takes me to get there.
I never buy any electronic device with an exposed board.
If they couldn't be bothered to cover up the oh-so-delicate circuit board, then its just not worth my money.

The Original MS Converter is much more stable. I previously had a noname Adapter which keeps resettig or freezing when touching it, now with the MS Converter 2 it works great.
Guys you really shouldn't be cutting those, you too Mr. Briggs. The best way around it is to sell the PBC if you have one (they sell for a ton now) and buy a cheaper one for the Genesis II or sell it and buy a SMS console instead, a basic original console will probably cost you less than $20 before shipping and they work really good, sure it's an extra system to own but you don't have to keep it hooked up all the time either. Definitely worth the time though. Don't ruin good money by cutting those converters though!

Is this new 3rd party coverter compatible with F-16 Fighting Falcon and Digger Chan, or does it have a new set of broken games?

Anyone know what company produced the bottom one? Doesn't have anything on it except instructions to not keep your finger on the pins, don't immerse in water, don't clean with thinner and do not disassemble. :)
an SD cart/converter would be a better option for some/most? ppl.
No converter will be compatible with those games. The games themselves do things that do not work on MDs.Quote:
