So, I've sold my PS3...

And two years ago my 360 went the same way. I just can't get into modern console gaming. The only PS3 games I really liked were Killzone 2 and Demon's Souls because they felt like a PC game hardcoreness wise. Yeah, I love some modern PC titles like Company of Heroes, Stalker games, Team Fortress 2, but I really can't stand all those Gears/Uncharted/Crysis 2/Halo/whatever bullshit. There's something about modern consoles that makes me not care about them at all.

Gimme some classic consoles instead. NES, Genesis and SNES are my Holy trinity. 2D titles on Saturn and PS1 rule too. Gimme classic 90's PC titles. Gimme 80's and 90's arcade hits.

Oh, and GS' System Wars forum makes me sick. Long live Sega-16 :p

To be honest, the only reason I've kept my PS3 is because I want to get Shadow of the Colossus and Ico, and it might be a great emulator machine in the future.

Why not keep a small PC as an emulator machine? Windows has much more choices and diversity among emulators.

I just can't get into modern gaming period. I'm a little interested in the Wii and DS, but everything else just doesn't have enough to catch my interest. Plus I hate the attitude that many publishers are taking towards gamers and the increasing reliance on online services.

My PS3 serves as my entertainment center (bluray, netflix, mp3s, occasional game). I'm not big into current gaming, but mainly because of the lack of quality and innovation. I enjoyed a handful of games like Uncharted, Borderlands, Blur, and Bulletstorm.

If the PS3 only played games I might not keep it, but with the utility it provides me, I use it every day for one form of entertainment or another. It's a bit like an electronic swiss army knife.

I can't sell either of my PS3s (one in the bedroom, one in the living room). I love em. Like others have mentioned they serve many purposes, not only for gaming. Besides, my fiance would kill me if I took her "Netflix Machine" (as she calls it) away. I am playing the hell out of Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection right now. It's full of rage quitters and glitches, but it does take me back to the golden age of arcades.

And games not working out of the box! I bought space marine recently for my ps3 and the bloody multi-player doesn't work! They announced the game a while ago and still couldn't get it right.

The thing is that back in the day each console had its own personality ,
certain colorschemes , sound chips , titles and mascots.

Nowadays consoles seem just like PCs but with a awkward controller and a less modular structure ,
which means you'll have to buy a new one instead of upgrading it.
Same high-res 3D graphics , with the same amount of max colors ,
CD quality audio , same storage format and whatnot.
Each port looks virtually identical , be it PC , Xb360 or Ps3.

So why should I get a Xb360 and/or a Ps3 when my PC can deliver the same entertainment and more? :/

Considering most "eggclusive" software nowadays is Generic FPS game #27850 and so on , I'll pass :)
Most of the actually good FPS games get ported to PC anyways.

You are missing or on Dark Souls, the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. This game (and a few notable others) justifies owning a PS3.

Ahhh, I wish I could afford a 360 or a PS3, but those systems cost around $700-800 USD here where I live...(game copies varies from $80-100, $150 if its a new release ).. I need to play Tekken 6!! and I don't want to miss Tekken Tag Tournament 2 either, damn.

I was seriously thinking into sell my copies of Snow Bothers, Slap Fight, Gleylancer and Twinkle Tale to Buy a 360+Kinect (I already sold Battle Mania Daiginjo but I regreted it).

I never got a PS3 and I probably wont at this point. There just aren't any exclusives that really jump out and make me want to buy one. I am however quite content with my 360. I got that mostly for Sega and Capcom's games as well as the XBLA exclusives. Also I quite enjoy the Star Ocean Series and the 360 version of Star Ocean was exclusive at the time I bought my 360 so that helped make my decision too.

I've owned 3 ps3 and sold it every time. For different reasons than you but, yeah. I feel like this generation is a much stronger offering than the previous. Xbox GC ps2 DC is my least favorite era of gaming ever. Even though the DC is one of the best systems ever and I liked the xbox too.

Yet you liked Killzone 2, but complain about Crysis? I guess you didn't like Shenmue either?

I'd rather watch a movie on Blu-Ray, because DVD is pretty crappy.

Well most of these crazies here still only have SD CRT so blu ray would be over kill for there vastly outdated sets. However DVD on a LCD looks like absolute shit and I'd say it unwatchable. Anything without an HD source on a LCD is awful.

The higher resolution of blu ray alone almost wins in every case. Sure its debatable on a handful of releases but, over all Blu Ray shits on dvd.

Yeah, the resolution is better, but there are reasons for still watching DVDs other than us being crazy and having old CRTs. Just as there are reasons for keeping CRTs around over LCDs and Plasma sets.

And there are a decent amount of bad BluRay releases out there. Even some of the BluRays I own have some issues. For example Back to the Future on BluRay has a alot of Edge Enhancement done to it which makes a lot of the shots look odd. However even though film has more resolution than what HDTV can currently show, you do eventually hit a point of diminishing returns. For Films done on 16mm Film that area is around 480p resolution if I remember correctly, which is what DVD is. So going from 480p to 1080p doesn't give you that dramatic of an increase as you would expect. There is still an improvement, but it's not that big. However the lack of compression really does help. However if the DVD's compression is done well, it can still hold up.

I used to watch DVDs with component and S-video on a Trinitron and Wega. The Wega with component really exposed the horrible color range of DVD, and I remember watching Return of the King; the color range was very flat. The same happenned with the first Transformers movie, that I had to watch on DVD, because it wasn't on Blu-ray at the time, and let's just say the color of the desert sand had no variety. I'd later see it on HD-DVD, where the sand had color changes.

Yeah, if you're playing a PS3 or 360 on a SDTV, you're doing it all wrong. You would't buy a $500 video card for you PC, only to connect it to an old VGA monitor would you?

I still use VHS , Not sure how the resolution would enhance the experience of non-interactive imagery.
VCR connected with SCART to a 28" CRT is enough to watch any movie :)

As I said, it really depends on what you are watching. You are not going to see that dramatic of a difference when comparing an old Anime on DVD to it's release on BluRay.

I do like modern consoles. Some great stuff available on them.
Only thing I don´t like (and understand) is the incredible popularity of military shooters like Battlefield and COD. Never cared for that stuff, and I was happy it was mostly a PC-thing in earlier generations.

I wouldn´t wanna have missed games like Red Dead Redemption, Fallout 3 & New Vegas, Heavy Rain, Arkham Asylum, Demon´s Souls, Dragon Age: Origins or Uncharted.
