A wild Nintendo Fanboy Appears!

Some people can be so god dam ignorant. I'm in this youtube video discussing on the comments how the Sega Genesis had many good games to those that thought that the genesis had nothing but a boring library. Then this random guy replies towards me the following.

Has anyone else met people like this? Seriously, Just cause some grew up with the snes, they refuse to acknowledge any other 16-bit consoles and there library of games. I see this kinda of crap more with Nintendo fans than Sega fans.

I agree. I believe that the majority of people that dislike the Genesis so much either never played one, or simply never played many games for it. They all use the same excuse, saying that "SNES had more better games", which clearly states that they are simply biased towards Nintendo and never played enough Genesis games.

I still don't understand the purpose of these versus topics. I didn't get it then and I don't get it now. Console wars are brilliant on behalf of the industry conglomerates, but plainly stupid on behalf of gamers. The only reason for they to exist is to give way to innovation and better games and hardware. But when the clueless drones amidst the masses fail to understand the concept of mainstream, pure verbal diarrhea cannot be helped but be spewed forth. Just about the only justifiable reason for a gamer to consider sparking-up a versus topic is to budget oneself properly when purchasing one's first console from a particular generation. But in the not-so-long run, regardless, one is bound to find every console and game one wants to buy for a very affordable price (in which case any and every versus topic is moot).

If a person, fanboy or not, were to present to me a thorough and extremely well-thought-out explanation of why the SNES is superior to the Genesis (or PS2 to the Xbox, or 360 to the PS3 and so on), I'd say I still don't give a rat's ass. I'm still going to buy, own and fucking cherish both (and all) of them.

I would not even entertain this fool.

What are you talking about?

The SNES is the perceived "winner" of the 16-bit console war so a lot of people, especially younger gamers just getting into retro games, will dismiss the Genesis as crap instead of realizing how close the console war really was and how much quality exists on both consoles.

I say it's their loss if they can't enjoy classic games because of what system they happen to be on. It's immature and not worth stressing about. I'm really tired of seeing the same versus nonsense too, there's no excuse not to enjoy both anymore and their libraries are distinct enough from each other that it's worth playing both.

Well, better for us. Just take a look at eBay to see how expensive CIB Snes games are. Lots of people looking for them and ignoring our beloved console.

Anyway, this is not about rationality. Just look how the guy has no argument to support his theory. It's kinda sad, actually. And I see a lot of this on Nintendo related boards... it's much like with Apple fanboys, people can't see anything else.

On a similar note, I will always remember back in my Pizza delivery days a random conversation among drivers turning to 16-bit gaming and one of them immediately popped off "Super Nintendo was way better than that crap on the Genesis." Just like that, the conversation was over.
