No offence, I love Mario, Mario 3 was my first video game, along with Mega Man 2 on my Third-party made famicom system. (have no idea what happen to that system after all these years).
I've been noticing how many Mario games are just doing the same thing (jump, run & throw) with Mario 3DS being the most generic of this same gameplay except its in 3-D!!!!!!
I don't know, maybe its because I'm getting older but I just don't see that FASINATING spark it gave me since Mario 64.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm getting tired of hearing about Mario, and I can't say I care about the new Mario games. For me, 8-bit was "Where it's at" for Mario games.

Nope. Mario games still rock.

I'm not the biggest fan of the NSMB games, but have you played either of the Mario Galaxy games? Super Mario Galaxy is about as close to any game has been to perfect this generation, and I've always hated the entire 3D platforming genre.

Oh yea, I played them, 2 was pretty good but I just wish Nintendo would try to bring something that wasn't just another overrated game.
Something that also deserved the same (if not, higher) respect as Mario back from the dead, EARTHBOUND TRILOGY.

Nope. Mario is one of the few old franchises that still has that "WOW!" factor in each new game.
And Earthbound is a game not worth bringing back.
Deal with it.

Whilst I agree with most people here posting about the new platforming titles, I also agree with the people who are starting to get sick of hearing about Mario. There's a ton of Mario titles coming to 3DS in what seems to me a very short period of time, so I just bought this brand new system, and those are the only games that's coming out for it from Nintendo? Just Mario Titles (yeah, I know there's a Kid Icarus game in the works) Don't get me wrong, Super Mario 3D Land is looking pretty cool, and I love the Paper Mario franchise (although I found the Wii one to be the weakest of the series), I just wish that Nintendo would start working on some of their old IPs or start making new ones a little more.

A game not worth bringing back you say? Seems you never even bothered checking the HUGE demand on bringing Earthbound to VC or the begging sequel for a Mother 4. As fun as many Mario games are, you can't stick to them forever.

I haven't "loved" a Mario since Super Mario Bros. 3. I liked Super Mario World on the Snes for a few days got as you said bland. Same with the sequel Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Isand. Mario 64 I could not have hated anymore man was I pissed as a kid at that game give me Cruisn' USA and let me have some fun.

The only Mario game I played to completion was NSMB on DS, and that was because it came with the system when I got it. Might give Galaxy 2 a whirl when there's nothing else to play.

I thought New Super Mario Bros. DS was a huge disappointment. The Wii one is pretty good, though. I liked Galaxy, but I didn't think we needed a second one. I agree that this doesn't look so hot.

Unlike Sonic, Mario is still awesome.
