New Vectrex Game!! Vector Pilot

This guy Kristof Tuts makes new games for the Vectrex that you can order online from him. I picked up Vectrexians (there are youtube videos of vectrexians if anyone is curious) and his newest game Vector Pilot. Both games are excellent but I have become addicted to vector Pilot. It is a really awesome shooter for the system and even has the ability to save high scores. The games come in really really nice plastic clam shells with color manuals. I highly recommend any vectrex fans check them out. You can find his site pretty easily through google. His site shows some screen shots of upcoming games he is working on also.

I have both games, and Vector Pilot, especially, is just beautiful. It's somewhat pricy (at least after the dollar-to-Euro conversion) but well worth it. The depth of field, the use of color in the overlay...it's almost a work of art. And fun as hell, too.

Vectrexians is good too, though I think I'd be more into it if I were a Galaxian fan.

^ Yeah I'm definitely a Galaxian fan(not as much as Galaga tho) but I can't stop playing vector pilot long enough to get into vectrexians yet! :) Now All I really want is one of those Vec Vox crazy speaker things for when I play berserk and other supported games. There's just nothing like the graphics of the vectrex (well aside from owning real classic arcade cabs anyway). I go through stints where I'll forget about the system for a couple months, then I'll bust it out and remember how awesome it is for a couple weeks and play the heck out of it.

I bought a nice light pen someone was selling on evilbay for the vectrex but I don't have any games that support it yet. I need to pick up one of those multicarts.

I love my Vectrex, and those games look really colorful! Though I definitely wish Vectrexians was more of a Galaga clone than Galaxian. Vector Pilot looks way cool and fun though!

Yeah, I absolutely love Galaga, but have never been much for Galaxian, probably because I played Galaga first (which made the earlier game seem like a cut-down version).

I just picked up a Vectrex the other day (I'm still waiting for it to arrive though), and was thinking about picking up a multicart as well. Do they come with overlays and such? Also, are the overlays really necessary, or are they more of an extra thing?

The overlays are not really necessary for most games and are mostly just cosmetic, although they do sometimes display useful info about the game like button configuration etc. A lot of people like to play without them, but I don't. They make the vector graphics look nice and brightly colored. I don't think most multicarts I have seen come with overlays.

Vector Pilot looks really nice, and pretty trippy with the way the overlays are done. I'll probably get it when I dig my Vectrex out of storage and have a bit more money.

I think the homebrewers have done more with overlays than the original releases did. There's even one homebrew that's unplayable without the overlay, since the layout of the arena is laid out on the overlays. Vector Pilot definitely wouldn't be the same without its overlay, but it doesn't require it.

Looks awesome, but the price is a bit too much for me right now, maybe after Christmas when I have a bit more money available.
