One of the best baseball titles on the Genesis gets a 32X installment, and its a prime example of why the 32X died a quite death. Mediocre visuals, bland sound, and poor gameplay will send you running back to the Genesis versions. This game is supposed to be rare, but we'd wager that it's even rarer to find someone actually willing to play it. Read our full review and see why we sent this one to the showers.
Wow that bad huh, and somehow I thought that this would've been the better of the 2 baseball games for the 32X. On a side note I still need to make a printable cover for this game, if anyone has a scan of the box, please send it my way so that I can finish that NTSC 32x cover collection.
I played this on the Everdrive a while ago, and it struck me as a complete failure, so it's nice to see that 2/10 at the end of the review. I'm not a big fan of the WSB game mechanics to begin with (at least not on the Genesis), but this entry just isn't remotely fun at all -- it's an obvious rush job that's downright depressing to play.
This game basically enacts the demise of the 32X -- it feels like everyone in it has given up, and wishes they were somewhere else. (Who in the world thought it was a good idea to have the sound of an apathetic crowd on perpetual loop?)
It is though. IDK Y Baloo gave thisd game such a low score. Even Next Generation a magazine that HATED the 32X gave this game 4 out of 5 stars.Quote:

I am of the opinion the World Series Baseball games are by far the best Baseball simulations of the 16-Bit era. For sim style Baseball you play World Series for everything else you play Sports Talk Baseball. I was floored as a kid playing World Series the batter/pitcher perspective was the formula used maybe I am wrong but basically to this day. In 94' I honestly thought it was a next gen game.
I don't even think we should rate sports games anymore because the appreciation for the technology has long been lost. I am a sports nut and I can barely go back to games I would spend a few hours a day playing as a kid (NHL 94-96, Madden 94-97, Sports Talk Baseball, World Series Baseball, NBA Jams)
The only reason post 16-bit era I ever wanted next gen systems were sports games and now that isn't the case considering Madden peaked on the PS2 and for the most part has been a joke on PS3.
Yeah, I think 2/10 is pretty harsh. It is an underwhelming update of an existing Genesis WSB title, but the original game it's based on was still a very good one in its own right. Everything about the WSB games that made them great is still present in the 32X version (aside from the commentary; that was a really bizarre thing to cut).
I agree. I can play the other games from that era, but I always go back to WSB. Even Triple Play, which has quite a few more features, is choppy as shit and somewhat lame to play by comparison.Quote:

I guess you could play World Series Baseball for 32x and somewhat enjoy it, but with games like Sports Talk Baseball and Tommy Lasorda Baseball that are 99x better than WSB 32x, why would you want to play it?
I was wondering if I was the only one. I picked it up and hated it, but I wasn't sure if it was because it was horrible, or just because I tend to not like baseball games that aren't on the Neo Geo.
At least it has a nice scaling effect for when someone catches the ball.......just saiyan.
I haven't played a lick of this game myself, but it is one of the few games that I have really longed to play on the 32x (the other being RBI 32x).... and I am disappointed in the review. I was hoping that it would bring more of a 3D element to the game. One thing the WSB series did though, and what I notice more at least from the pictures is that the stadium backdrops seem to have more detail than the ones in the Genesis versions. Too bad the game sucks! It seems like there was a point in time where they just gave up on the 32x and released rehashes.
Believe it or not, I actually like the game....What's best, I can strike out every player, in every game, in every season, in the whole playoffs..Yeap, a perfect championship :ok: ..
I played it while my 15 year old brother in law watched, he couldn't believe it... Dammit!!, I should have recorded that :bang: ....
