The Hori pad isn't worth the price. It's no better than some of the cheaper alternatives and good luck ever selling one if you get sick of it. I tried futilely to sell one for below average and all I got was "you're asking HOW much? You're nuts!". I put it on craigslist and kept getting the ad flagged because some online store had a Pelican model listed for $20(which had been sold out for 2 years but they didn't care). One of the big flaws of craigslist though, you can flag an ad for any reason since it's just clicking a link.

The buttons also click quite bad, in my experience.

Yeah, that kinda sucks :/ one of my friends found a set at a pawn shop that he was able to buy for a ridiculously low price. Pisses me off lol

Totally not knockin' s-video :) Oh yeah, I have a multi-system s-video cable from Gamestop, and it DOES have both s-video and composite like you mentioned. Strange though, on my old CRT, if I had JUST the s-video plug in, the picture had a lot of strange noise and artifacts, but if I plugged in both that AND the composite cable, I'd have a nice, sharp picture, WAY better than just the composite on its own. I tried the same thing on my LCD TV, and I get the same nice sharp image with JUST the s-video plugged in. Tried this with my GC using the GB Player. Should I try to find a dedicated Nintendo s-video cable?

Bastard and Sheath: I totally forgot about the two Metroid games! Yeah, they rocked.

Of course, the one I'd recommend owning the most- WarioWare Twisted- can't be played on a GB Player.

You could always use the official "Gameboy Player Controller" which Hori released in both North America and Japan.
Of course if you missed out on them when they were selling for $10-20 new, well you might have to pay a lot more now :P

I've owned 6 of them and never had a problem selling them.

The quality is top notch as well.

I have no idea how you had a less than excellent experience with them.
The button action and construction is at least as good as the official SNES pads.

I've grown quite used to the "squishy" buttons of my PS1 pad(used with the PC) and DS Lite, I guess. Hori GBP Controller buttons click louder.

I did have a PS2 adapter at one point that worked well with the Gamecube. A PS1 controller pre-analog was quite nice though you had to get used to button mapping. Though I have no idea what happened to it. If I can find it I'd probably put my Hori controller up for sale.

It wouldn't hurt to do that. I bought a few dedicated S-Video cables and they haven't failed me. The picture is incredible on SNES, N64 and GC. They don't appear to have a specific brand, but I've bought cables like these from PNP games (eBay Store) and Rewind Bits (UK based site).

You can probably get a Monster brand s-video cable for cheap these days. They're at least as good as the official Nintendo ones(which are hard to find) and only cost slightly more than the junk brands.

I would stay away from Soinc Advance 2 it was way too fast the 1st Sonic Advance was good if a bit easy

Is the the truth for all GBA games on the big screen? I noticed that some of those youtube video clips of GBA games look somewhat blocky and compressed. Are they going to still look blocky, only on a larger scale on my TV screen?

Someone is probably gonna tell me Im using the wrong cables or something but when I was playing Mario Kart it looked very blocky and ugly on an old 26 in tv.

It does depend on the game, although personally I've never encountered a game where I found it to be that bad. Doom is one of the worst but it's still tolerable to me. YMMV.
