^This. Took me a while to appreciate the game behind the CGI. And yeah, as has already been mentioned: the lack of the shotgun animation is entirely inexcusable. Other than that it's a great game though.

Doom III was awesome the best Doom I have ever played , well not that hard since every Doom game made before that sucked and was vastly overrated imo . That said the N64 version was the best console version , with some awesome sound and music
I bet if they had done a similar "built from the ground up" game for the 32X, Sega's machine would have had a version of Doom to be proud of, instead of one that felt like a chopped up port of the shareware episode, with a handful of extra levels.

Just threw up in my mouth a little.
I don't know why ... I myself found Doom 2 boring and dull in every way totally outclassed by the likes of Duke, Exhumed and Dark Forces . Doom is very much like Bioshock for me in that's it's a great technical marvel , but so bloody boring to play and I just don't get the rave reviews for both Bioshock and Doom
How can you be a member of a retro gaming site, yet dislike them so?
To me its like saying that "Crystal Skull" was the only good Indiana Jones Movie, or that "New Coke" is the bomb.
Makes no sense what so ever... sorry and its not even like I'm saying Modern stuff is better. It may have escaped your notice but Exhumed/Power Slave and Duke Nukem 3D are retro them self's . I don't and never have liked Doom any of them. I do admire them for what they did for GFX and game engines, but has games, ind them boring and dull to play
Still to this very day Duke Nukem 3D and Exhumed (simply the best ) are the best FPS I've ever played
You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Bastardcat again.
There is nothing wrong with not liking some old games that are popular, but if you enjoy shooters then you must have the sense to know that the original Doom is a very scary and fun experience. Doom 2, which I played way more as a kid, is less atmosphere but more action. So there is something for everybody in the first two games. Neither of them are boring, some of those maps are freaking brutal. Not like the on rails bs kids have today. Back in the day, they threw in some real noggin bogglers with the mindless shooting.
I never found Doom to be scary in the slightest . Now playing Doom III, Alien Vs Predator, System Shock were scary games, but never Doom (even back in the day) Sorry Doom like Bioshock did nothing for me , just wander around shot stuff with lame dull AI and pretty lame puzzles, just found them both dull . Duke Nukem 3D on the other hand was a master piece of an FPSQuote:

If you can't appreciate the classics, I can't take you seriously. Not liking Doom is one thing, but completely dismissing it? That's Kogen crazy. Doom was one of the most prolific games of all time. Ported to anything capable of running it(as well as a couple things barely able to run it), and that's just counting the official ports. Sonic isn't my favorite platformer series. Its not even in my top three, but I can truly appreciate what it did for it's genre.
