Yep. There's a reason it was called "Knee Deep in the Dead". :D

Sprites! Glorious sprites! There's a reason I steer clear of the .md2 model packs for modern Doom ports, they ruin the feel of the game...well that and they are ass ugly.

Hideous!
It's still too low-poly and ugly.
Doom 64 is awesome. My only complaint about it are the missing monsters and the limited weapon animations. I believe the developers had a small cartridge size to work with so they had to cut some stuff.
I wonder how the Revenants and Arch-Viles would've looked like in Doom 64 style..
Not sure, but if Doom64's version of the Cyberdemon is any indication, my guess would be "Badass".
I did read that Doom 64 was originally created as other FPS game with different graphics and different title, however I forgot what original was. They just petty much changed graphics and renamed doom 64 instead for cash in on doom popularity.
But Doom 64 is such a awesome game that only can be found on Nintendo 64, it's a great choice for someone who is a die hard doom gamer who really dislikes doom 3.
Funny thing I really do have 14 FPS games for N64 system.
Please pardon the bump - but I just have to say having grabbed this game again and played it all the years later, Doom 64 is practically unplayable and at best unenjoyable.
How the hell can anyone see what they're doing!? It's so dark, I spent more time looking at the overhead maps than anything else. If staring into a pitch-black screen is atmospheric, then I'm clearly missing something with Doom 64.
I haven't been this eager to sell off a game since Winback. And that is what is so damn frustrating for me with the N64. You try going outside those same top ten or twenty games, which are usually for whatever reason the same as the top underrated games for the system, and it's just a complete miss. I'm hard pressed to find another game to fill the void that I was looking for with Doom 64. What a love-hate relationship I have with this console... recommendations welcomed...
Speaking of doom3. Am i the only one who felt let down by it? I love the leaked e3 demo, but once the retail came it felt like a very different game to what the e3 demo promised.
And a question about the wad pc port of doom64, can that wad be used with say the dreamcast doom port?
Could always try the pc remake/port Doom 64 EX.
or if you want more blood get Brutal Doom 64.
Yeah, I watched a playthrough of Doom64 a while back because I thought the naysayers might be exaggerating about the game's visibility issues.
They weren't.
props to 'em for remaking the game for N64 the way they did, but holy hell did they drop the ball with that part of it. I've been playing Doom PSX the last few days actually, and the lack of lighting is used to great effect in some bits, albeit sparingly.
I've heard of Doom 64 EX and it's certainly an improvement. Too bad you don't see reproduction carts for N64, this might have been worthwhile.
Absolutely, I've been exploring N64 games for awhile now, giving them the benefit of the doubt - but this is one where the truth was damning. I'd need to invest in night-vision goggles to play Doom 64.
I have a Nintendo-made S-Video cable, and even with my television settings maxed out, I couldn't seem to put much of a dent on the video clarity. I actually liked the sprites, the levels are a pain only because I can't see where I'm going, and the weapons seemed pretty faithful...
But all in all, it's really just an ongoing thing with me and the N64. I love it, but I hate how after fifteen games deep the library falls flat. Like, I'm still trying to find that 'Ristar' or 'Ranger-X' title for N64 kind of thing, just hasn't happened yet. The saga continues...
