I spent a lot of my childhood playing Mortal Kombat II on the SNES, so it's the version of MKII I'm most attached to. Great graphics, great music, it was the real deal in the house, not that weak attempt that was the FIRST game... which coincidentally is my least favorite MK game at home.

You gotta admit that a couple of the toned down fatalities were pretty good. Raiden reduces his victims to ash, and Sub-Zero freezes then shatters his. Kano's is only amusing if you do it on Sonya. It looks like he honks her boob then yanks out a silicone breast implant.
The SNES version of MK1 has a more amusing ending than the same game on Genesis
I always wanted to do my own port of MK1 to Genesis, and then make all the chars have a 2nd fatality which would have been based on their censored Snes counterparts.Quote:

I don't like the toned down music in MK II Snes.
Huh, I think the 32X version is much tougher (but also cheaper), but maybe that's just because I'm a Jax player and his best combos don't work on the 32X.Quote:

Censored Snes MK1 could still have been a great game, but its not because the people responsible for the port did a lousy job when it came to the gameplay.
MKII. It was the best home port of the best game in the series. Some ports, like 32X version had better sprites, but as a sum of all parts, SNES version wins. I even play it over the arcade version nowadays.
MK1 could be great but the control lag really killed it.
MK3 is a great port of kinda mediocre game. Well, it's not that bad, I find it even better than Killler Instinct, but the modernized art design and silly fatalities stripped the game of the MK style. For some reason I really loved MK3 and UMK3 as a child (had both on Genesis) but now I would choose even MK4 over MK3 games.
UMK3: the game is improved over MK3 but the port is worse and looks unfinished. Sculpture got out of the cart space. Should've used 40 meg cart instead.
