I am truly sorry for being to lazy to give better feedback. I did not have much time to examine your screenshots and at first glance wasn't able to tell which was the original and which was the edited version.
My main gripe with your WIP screenshot was that I liked the bright colors of Haohmaru's stage, and the original sprites (aside of Ukyo, I will admit tht) but now I can see that even Haohmaru looks better with your changes. - I do however prefer the white/grey tones for Hoahmaru's cloths in the original port over your slightly pink-ish edit, the original was closer to the arcade.
I also preferred the brighter alternative 2P palette for Hoahmaru. He looks a little bit too dark now.
The rocky cliff in the foreground of Hoahmaru's stage seemed to be limestone, now it's looks like dirty limestone. - Perhaps you can improve it a bit by finding something inbetween the original and your edit ?
And yes, the night version looks perfect.
@retrospiel i understand your point, you liked the changes of md version,
in my case i love the original and is one of my fav games ever and i didn't like how some things looks on md,
and the only thing i liked in sega cd version is the chars colors cuz they look close of arcade.
MD version they changed alot some chars and background,
the bkgs we didnt have much to do, 1 pallete for everything and etc... cuz that the "limestone" have no hope rsrsrs
and about the characters colors, like always we try hard to do something closer to arcade but you know how md pallete is limited
in haohmaru case is diferent but much more closer than de baby blue in the original,
anyway its a just for test and for my curiosity, i'm happy to see a artwork almost 1/1 from neogeo and with new colors they are quite closer
take a look and you understand what i talk about the galford..

I played around with Hoahmaru's alt 2P color palette and the limestone cliff. I think I hit a middleground between your version and the original:

Galford looks perfect btw.
Night haohmaru stage looks ridiculously much better. I prefer the original Galford stage background though, new one looks a bit washed out. The sprite color swap is great, Galford and Ukyo look a lot better.
As for haohmaru's 1st contume i like Pyron's new red bracer and skin, but i prefer the original clothes. In the 2nd costume i like restrospiel's edit.
For this test I kept Pyron's edit of Hoahmaru's cloths but toyed around with background and skin color:

Maybe I'm overlooking something but I consider Pyron is already doing an awesome job with Samurai Shodown. The drab color choices of the Mega Drive version is one of the reasons why I usually prefer playing the Mega-CD version, despite the fact that the Mega Drive version was the one I had and played the most back in the day.
I did some others ahaha i cant stop... shit

Hanzo alt color i need to change a bit
Thumbs up!!
I'm re-doing some things with more freedom, so i remade the haomaru stage, and i liked more of this version

The re-colour looks good. It's a goddamn crying shame that SEGA did not let the FFCD team develop their SNK ports (FF, AoF, SS) for the MEGA-CD instead of gimped carts with their shitty self imposed "24MBIT limit", crap. I think that MCD versions of those games could have been fantastic if it was made by a competent team that knew the hardware.
I actually wonder if SS on the MCD was even FINISHED, because it is so shite! Maybe Victor decided to dump development when the Japanese release was cancelled. Garou Densetsu Special was also a fucking joke. Victor had good developers in Japan, they should have used them! Obviously the MCD version would never match the Arcade CD version, but it could have been far better than it was. I would not be surprised if they did not even USE the PCM sound chip, the sample are so poor.
Victor did japanese version of SOTB and is a great port, FFS and SS on mega cd its a shame, MCD can do something much bether tham that shit, even the pcm samples are poor and MCD have a good PCM chip just for that,
takara did a bether job on md and both cases.
Indeed! Victor also made one of the best games on the system; Keio Yugekitai. It's a shame they did not make more original games. The majority of Victor games are CORE Design games and not original. It always bugged me that they made some great games on the PCE and SuFami instead of putting them on the MCD. They had a stake in the system afterall. They were almost exclusive in the Saturn era, however.
I wish we could have seen some more arcade conversions on the system. I have read bad things about Sengoku Denshou, but I thought it was great when I bought in 1994. It could have been better of course, but it was 100 times better than the shit DATA EAST put out on the SuFami. The lack of 2 player mode and scalling sucks and let's down an otherwise good conversion. The MCD could have replicated the NEO-GEO scalling sprites with ease but as usual, the sprite handling chip was not used. All those arcade conversions by SEGA post 1991 on the MD with scabby MBIT sizes, still annoy the hell out of me. They should have been on CD. The fact that there are SEGA games on CD on the PC Engine and not on their own system pisses me off no end.
